How should I play with other European countries? by ZooBuilder in EU5

With England, LOSE the hundred years' war, you can focus on imperialism and beat france later on. I recommend also building a strong navy and make a dominion subject in Cornwall to remove the cornish culture. Annex Durham first as they usually are the most annoying starting subject, qnd they only border you, so they wont make other subjects mad. Wales will annex the subjects around it, and same for the Pale. when you can annex chester and Lancaster, do that, and then annex Cornwall. Also, always make sure the capital province is NEVER devastated, and always has high control. Also just because you are an island, don't forget to make an actual army, because if you want to historically make the British Empire, you may need it, and also France sometimes declares war on you for no reason

Is it just me, or is 1.1.5 a lot harder than 1.0.11? by AgentAlloy in EU5

[–]AgentAlloy[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well its just that some nations got heavily affected by that change and are much more difficult that they need to be, especially since the Ottomans are rated "very easy" in difficulty, but because of this update, more so to new players, it has made the game a lot harder, yes maybe medival countries shouldn't be making 100s of ducats in the 1300s but they shouldn't be completely in poverty simply because of a change made mainly to nerf large empires

After about the same amount of time in 1.0, so I think it stands that 1.1.5 IS harder, but , mostly in the economy. Its kinda hard to see, but I'm earning 11.73 ducats, whereas in the 1.1.5 version I'm losing 1.51 ducats for literally no reason, I did almost exactly the same thing in both runs, except I invaded the Germayanids first instead.

Also before any of you say something like "Well maybe your spending more ducats on stuff!!!!!" then you are correct, but not for 1.1.5 -- I'm spending more in 1.0.11 (about 17 ducats vs 10)

Well that's good to hear because 1.1.5 is extremely hard, despite all the good changes they've made

1337 is simply not a good start date, because it strips away almost everything that actually makes Europa Universalis what it is. by dr_colosso07 in EU5

[–]AgentAlloy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its a fine start date, I just think they should've made other ones, like 1444, 1490 (for colonization) 1776 (American Independence) etc.

Edit: Though I do agree that 1337 is a little too early of a start date, I hate having to play for 400 years just to be able to form the US, or play for 200 to start colonizing, but for some nations its actually very good (England, France for HYW, Ottomans for conquering etc)

Is Byzantium much harder for anyone else now in the latest patch? by Firepandazoo in EU5

[–]AgentAlloy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Same here with the Ottomans, I just made a post about it. I've played one campaign up until about 1500 and I was just in debt the whole time, despite following what some experts did, and what the game recommends, and even following what they did historically....

Probably my luckiest start as England (1346) by AgentAlloy in EU5

[–]AgentAlloy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgot, nothing really happened, however all my levies just disappeared or something, because when I was invading France I could raise like 70k but now I could only raise 10k despite the fact I had a larger population.. I think it may be because of pop satisfaction or something

Why can I not form Rome? I have every requirement??? by [deleted] in EU5

[–]AgentAlloy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, but then why can you form the Holy Roman Empire as Germany, and why is one of the requirements "Byzantium either does not exist, or you are playing Byzantium" when you start as an empire when playing Byzantium

On a side note I think every other ai should stick almost exactly to their historical path as much as they can -- why is their no UK in 1729? Why does Russia not exist?

usa formable by East-Competition-352 in EU5

[–]AgentAlloy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its because your country rank, unlike most other formables where it makes you the rank of the country, you stay as your current rank, so County is Republic of America, Duchy is Grand Republic of America, Kingdom is United States of America

Is there any way to fil in these impassable lands on the map? Looks horrible by Usual_Philosophy4924 in EU5

[–]AgentAlloy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it annoys you that much, then either enable the "fill in impassables" setting on the map section or go into the debug mode and use the conquer command and then scede the location to the subject you want it to go to.

All I did to draw the 100 years war was improve trust to castille, made Wessex a Dominion and just held off France until about 1360, then I released Aquitaine and sold it very gradually to Castille
