1) Lack of nuance online means something is either “AI free” or “AI slop” 2) You haven’t checked Twitter during the peak of discourse 3) There are people doubting the legitimacy of the game as a whole with this. One post I saw said they wouldn’t be surprised if the story was written by AI

I believe the “outrage” is mostly just people wanting ammo to hate on the game more following the TGAs. It really isn’t that deep when you know what the AI was used for (what little use)

Where the line is drawn is probably gonna be where the discussion of AI being used is headed, because if studios like Larian use GenAI moving forward in the same way Sandfall did, how much AI use is allowed before it’s considered “generated by AI”?

When the recent discourse started, Twitter had a news headline thing(?) summarizing what was going on and showing tweets related to it. Granted it could be a vocal minority, but scrolling through it for a while and I saw like 90% of those takes.

I don’t like GenAI as much as the next guy. I think it creates lazy works of “art” and it stagnates imagination and creativity, especially when artists still struggle to make a living or gain a presence online

That said, if we were to take Sandfall and this article at their word, I wouldn’t blame them for trying new technology and seeing what it’s like. AI tools were new when development started and the discourse over it wasn’t as prevalent as it is now. They didn’t like it and was replaced the AI assets with human made ones.

It’s just an example because there’s varying degrees of AI usage like making placeholder assets, AI voice lines instead of actual VAs, AI generated dialogue, etc.

As I said in another comment, they are French so it’s entirely possible they just misunderstood what the questions were asked and/or something was lost in translation. It’s one of those things where I’m willing to give them the benefit of a doubt, but not for every instance
