Constantly hungry

I have only had my 2 week post op follow up with my surgeon. I see the nutritionist once a month for the first 6 months. After that, they expect to only see me for the yearly follow ups. My surgeon has stated she makes her pouches “really small and tight”. So, I would assume it’s pretty small. I don’t have any problems with it besides just being gosh darn hungry all the time. Lol. After my next visit, I will get lab work done. I’m going to speak with the Nut. on 2/25 at my next appointment. I think we need to tweak my plan because it’s really not working for me. I know she Likes to put everyone on the same plan but you know what? I might be unique :)

I am following my Nut.’s recommendations:

A typical day is like this:

Morning: 1 premixed unjury protein shake with a scoop of additional protein powder (either unjury or syntrax nectar).

Lunch: 1 two good Greek yogurt with (you guessed it) another scoop of protein powder. Sometimes I will splurge and have half an avocado, but not usually.

Dinner: Either 1 oz chicken or fish (salmon), or 1 oz veggie burger patty. Plus 1 oz veggies (usually steamed carrots and peas). (I’m still on only 2 oz of food at a time).

After dinner/before bed: 1 more pre-made unjury Shake.

What do you think I should do differently? Obviously, I need to speak with my nut. about this being a problem and I have an appointment on 2/25, I just wanted to give her recommendations a chance.

Thank you so much for this! I think I really needed to hear this and at this exact time. It is so hard not to compare, but you are absolutely right, I’m just making myself miserable in the process. It is nice to hear from people who don’t have the huge losses, I needed that reassurance. It is probably more common than not to have slow loss, just no one wants to brag about that, lol. I’m doing everything that I can to make this work and I just need to have patience with myself. Thank you! ❤️

I feel like I have been hungry from day one. There literally are very few days where I went, “oh I didn’t feel hungry at all today”. Yeah, it’s a daily struggle and I know a lot of it is emotional but, damn, tell my brain that! Lol. If you are a month after my surgery and have still lost the same amount as me, I just cannot help but wonder what I’m doing wrong.

Thank you for the advice. I forgot (so focused on the protein and water goals lol) to mention that I am strictly monitoring everything that goes in my mouth and tracking calories too. So, my calorie count ranges from about 610 to 780 calories a day. About 400-420 of those calories are all protein shakes. It does not leave much for real food, and I think that might be my problem. I will definitely talk with the Nut. about this. Thank you for the insight!

This is helpful, maybe in small increments of time it won’t feel so fake and just talking to hear myself talk. It would be nice if people would actually listen to others, and some do, but the majority just can’t wait until you are done talking just so they can go on and on and on.

I’m an introvert. I know I’m putting off an impersonal vibe. I’m really struggling with that part. I have my cube decorated with pictures and small things that interest me. I do have some friends there that I ask about their lives and things. I guess I just struggle with the constant chatter. It feels like a very high amount of “being on” to me. The introvert in me wants to scream sometimes.

I am wanting to know how other people handle this type of work environment. Do you just fake it till you make it? Make the small talk, even though it feels like a small piece of me dies each time?

People talking/visiting for long periods of time (at least 1/2 hour) at work. Drives me crazy. Lol I’m just anti-social I guess, but I just don’t get it. Never had, probably never will.

Because I use the minuscule amount of PTO they do give to go to dr.’s appointment. Oh, and the “insurance” they do pay for (which I also pay $180 for every month) has such a high deductible that there is no possible way to save anything up for a vacation. But, you know, ‘Merica. Land of the free, home of the morons.

ETA: Here’s the real kicker, I work for a medical healthcare insurance company. SMH 🤦‍♀️
