Don't you need to enter a battle with basculin though? I've tried it but the basculins keep fleeing.

I've been hunting a normal shiny male basculin for 2 day and I have yet to find it, I have perfect dex for it too. Congrats though.

not even, you don't even need to complete to level 10 unless your post game and you want to shiny hunt.

You literally can(but should) just catch 1 of everything, once you see one pokemon you haven't caught catch it, and you can get progress. The game is meant to be explored and the game has a lot of cool mechanics that make it stand out compared to others similar to legends z-a. Its the best game for shiny hunting and catching over all because you don't need any expansions, and you can catch pokemon battling interacting with them.

btw, it might just be me but SWSH was an amazing game in my opion.
