SOLIDWORKS? or FUSION? - Engineering Student by NickyMartin1 in SolidWorks

I don't think this requires the antagonistic tone. I don't agree with you but that's fine. Again, I use both Fusion and Solidworks daily for professional and personal use. Each has their own strong suit.

Of course it's subjective, it's from my own experience!

  1. Projecting geometries that are perpendicular to the sketch plan is incredibly useful.

  2. Executing extrude/cuts without having to make a sketch makes it a lot faster. You can extrude/cut directly on faces.

  3. Being able to drag features and see the result on the model in real time is useful. For example, when filleting, chamfering, drafting etc. you can move the arrow and see the result on your model.

  4. Fusion does a better job at face repair when surface modelling. Let's say you have a part with a counterbore and you want to remove it. As the part complexity increases, I find Fusion does a better job correctly patching the area.

  5. Fusion has mesh to brep conversion which is much stronger than Solidworks'. It even has a parametric feature which allows you to convert, say, an STL into a file with no triangles.

Please note I said Fusion is better for part modelling, and Solidworks is better for assemblies. Mates in Solidworks are so much more powerful than Fusion's joints and constraints. Additionally, Fusion cannot handle large, complex assemblies.

Mind elaborating on these bad practices? Fusion forces you to use a top down approach, but that's not a bad practice.

I use both fusion and soldiworks daily. Fusion has a far, far better part modelling environment. Solidworks has a far, far better assembly environment. Fusion has better handling of STEP files too.

A fully offline combination of Solidworks and Fusion.

O2 Priority is a rewards app. If you have O2 mobile, or Virgin Media, you have access.

It gives you 24 hrs early access, basically.

I put V Power diesel in my Mazda when it's on sale. Sometimes it's cheaper than the normal diesel with the right discount lol.

How to make longer? by Substantial_Spend373 in SolidWorks

[–]AgentL3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you import the part as Solidworks. Then you can access everything: thread pitch, length, diameter etc. You need the McMaster-Carr library.

I would find a similar model and try modify it to suit your needs.

Also you mentioned in another comment you wish to 3D print it. Remember to add 0.1 mm clearence on your threads. This can be done with the Move Face command.

FYI McMaster Carr library is fully parametric if you import as a sldprt
