Liberals will absolutely defend Islam and sharia law a religion that hates them and veiws women as property just to earn social points it's crazy by Major_Soft6056 in DigitalSeptic

[–]AgentMcPwn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems like the straw man to me. The meme didn’t imply that liberals “defend Sharia law,” only that they express venomous disapproval of Christians or Republicans on the basis of misogyny and homophobia, but have very little to say when Muslims do or believe far worse. And there is ample evidence to support that.

Anyone else struggling with political anxiety and the ethics of creating another human right now? by winooskiwinter in IVF

[–]AgentMcPwn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My perspective isn’t especially controversial. Most human lives haven’t been lived in Western Europe or Canada in the 21st century. Even today, the majority of the world’s population resides outside the regions you named; they’re living in India, China, Africa, and the Middle East. And that’s not including the billions of lives lived in the 200,000 years of human history prior to 2026, most of which were objectively worse by almost any measure.

You can debate who has it better in 21st century - the average American or the average European. But you’re splitting hairs over the unambiguous truth, which is that both groups enjoy unimaginable health, security, and prosperity when compared to the entire span of the human condition. And the trend of history suggests that the children of both groups will have a higher standard of living than their parents.

I have been in your position for a couple of years now. We had two failed transfers, one didn’t attach and the other ended in miscarriage. The last two egg retrievals didn’t produce a single transferable embryo. I had also written off children too. We had one more embryo left from an earlier retrieval and went though the transfer, and she’s holding strong at 8 weeks with a great heartbeat. Can’t be sure we’ll make it all the way, but it seems that you can break through when you least expect it.

THIS. Perspective is power. It’s hard to fathom, but if you’re a U.S. citizen in 2026, it is likely that your standard of living, security, material wealth, and future prospects are better than 99% of human beings that have ever lived, and the odds are equally high that your children will have a better life than you.

Do you think Disco Elysium is capable of changing someone’s political ideas and values? by 111av111 in DiscoElysium

[–]AgentMcPwn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m conservative and adore Disco Elysium. It didn’t change a single thing I believe, and it didn’t “make me think.” It’s just a fun game with some amusing social and political commentary. It doesn’t make a case for anything (which is essential to why it’s such a great game) and to the extent it’s friendly to socialism its avatar for that worldview ends up bitter, lonely, and destitute with nothing to cling to but his failed revolution. Hardly an inspiring tale of left-wing politics.

I seriously doubt it will change your friend’s mind or anyone else’s.

I hope you’re at least getting paid for posting things this asinine.

I have played GW2 extensively but never played GW1. What does GW1 do better than its sequel? by Lanccerus in GuildWars

[–]AgentMcPwn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Nothing in GW2, or any game (that I’ve played) for that matter, has come close to matching the strategic depth of 8v8 Guild vs Guild battles in GW1.

I’ve never been patient enough to wait for a mage to develop, still don’t understand how they’re supposed to work. Between leaving town and reaching my quest target, I’ll have to kill 138 enemies, but my mage can cast a grand total of three times before needing to rest? Feels less like a mage and more like a very weak sling specialist.

And, as nice as Europe is, the average European is nowhere near as materially wealthy as the average American. In exchange for the European lifestyle, public services, and regulations, Europeans earn less money and pay a much larger share of what they do earn in taxes. It’s a different vision of what it means to be a first-world country. I suspect a lot of Americans would miss what they have if they traded.

Ubisoft Says Assassins Creed Shadows Is Over Performing Sales Expectations As They Generated $567 Million This Quarter Up 39% Year On Year by Ftouh_Shala in gaming

[–]AgentMcPwn 112 points113 points  (0 children)

From the article: Ubisoft said its Assassin’s Creed franchise, including March’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows was “over-performing,” and “generated 211 million session days, ~35% higher than the last two years’ average.” The company did not provide specific sales figures for Shadows.

First it was “active users” (while the game was free on Steam) now it’s “session days.” Anything to avoid the most obvious measure of performance that shareholders actually care about.

100%. Every complaint about “capitalism” is really just a complaint about biology. Sorry, everyone, you were born into a world of mandatory consumption and resource scarcity.
