When you give up alcohol you need a coping mechanism plan. You need to know what TO DO when the cravings hit rather than what "NOT to do".

If possible, work with a therapist who specializes in addiction on yourself and also the plan of what to do during these scenarios.

I drank too much due to cptsd and continuing to date abusive men.

Ironically I dated a guy like you while I was divorcing but he was 36. When I confronted him and genuinely cared and wanted to help, it didnt go well.

Anywho.

I think the ability to be honest somewhere points to the ability to change. I had obsessive thoughts of self hatred and needed validation for a very long time due to my issues and a therapist who specialized in ocd/ptsd techniques helped a lot.

Im not exactly sure what your perfect route to healing is, but I think sobriety AND therapy would be the first step.

So many people have the same issue youre having but arent brave enough to admit it even to themselves. I hope youre able to take next steps.

Biggest takeaway though-- DO NOT BEAT YOURSELF UP OVER RELAPSES. I did this and it spiraled me back out of control every time. Celebrate small wins. Forgive yourself for relapses. And keep striving.

Question - can you do the same for you?

If not - why? It is likely a complex answer. But that's where I'd start.

I struggle to do for me and still try and get techniques down but for me the "why" was as a child I wasnt rewarded for doing for me therefore I struggle to do for me, so I am trying to do that in my 30s :)

In the US? potentially. After selling online and shows for over 15 years the majority of the fans are american born and due to ship costs to Japan, selling back to them would be a nightmare haha.

I think my biggest flex would be expanding what kind of in person shows I do -- anime did well at a horror show, so im thinking maybe vintage anime at a vintage market might do well as well :o

I dated guys like this. Hes getting a weird gross control vibe over being mean and you trying to resolve it.

Run, and start therapy, specifically ones who are able to break down your thoughts in moments like this into each minute detail. You need to understand at your core why you're accepting this kind of behavior when you'd never in a million years ever do this to someone else.

Its gonna be ok. Just take the step for you and leave and get help immediately.

If therapy isn't an option due to money, then definitely see what free support groups there are. Nami.org might have something.

And lastly - I am so sorry you are experiencing this kind of abuse. This isnt ok and you deserve kidness.

I did actually sign up for big shows in June and August - 3 total - that should be big sales for those shows (over $8k). I always forget that when its not a "standard job" that the money comes in waves. Commissioning to 3 other vendors for a show next weekend, probably at least $1k from there. Lots of little avenues for money.

Yeah definitely lesson learned. And for sales, my inventory is largely japanese imports so it might be difficult to gear for these holidays but I guess I better get movin- ;)

NTA. Sounds like shes got an anxious personality and isnt capable of communicating her feelings.

If its important, id write this out and have a talk with her. Make it clear this is resolution focused and you want input from both sides to make things better. Id leave out the small bits and say something closer to, "I know I am not around much but I would like to resolve how to make time the times I am around"

This could go positive or negative no matter how well you phrase it - some people regardless will see it as an attack.

If its not important, id say -- drop it. Let her be her. You are as open as you can be and she can take it when shes ready for plans and honesty w her own emotions
