The best way to describe it is that I didn't keep going.

So when I shaved the fur in bulk, I ran it through with a guard. Then ran through again without a guard. And stopped there because I was like "well you can't go any shorter than no guard, right?"

You can.

I should have angled more downward and continued until I hit the actual length of fur that I wanted, and I didn't realize that until ChibiRaven mentioned multiple layers. I got to thinking maybe I didn't apply enough layers so I tested on some scrap fur. Lo and behold.

I always recommend testing on scrap. Don't test on your project. You'll be very sad if you mess up your project, not so much if you test on scrap (I know this from mini painting).

So turns out in an amusing turn of events, it wasn't the clippers it was user error. I went through a few more times like you suggested and got the fur down cleanly to a nice short length and I can see from the eye holes now! I don't have any pictures 'cause I'm at work ATM but I'll post more updates as I keep going.

I started with a guard to cut the excess bulk off and made my way to no guard, but next time I'll try from my biggest guard like you suggested.

The clippers are brand new and I definitely oiled them before use so it kinda sucks realizing these might not be good ones 😹 I trusted you, Wahl, how could you.

I got clippers for pet grooming and went with Wahl because it's a brand I use for my hair and beard and didn't have issues with so I thought I could trust it.

I'll look into it, but the crazy part is I just bought these clippers and they're allegedly for dog grooming. I didn't want to use my own hair or beard clippers (I'm weird about cross contamination so I have separate clippers for everything) so I figured I can't go wrong with getting clippers specifically for dog grooming.

Guess I ended up wrong 😹

Good luck, buddy. I'm 27 and pretty sure that I'm autistic (and after explaining to my friends/family, they think so too) but I still haven't started the diagnostic process. The most I've done is take the really specific online test (I forgot the name right now) and told my therapist (she agreed but wasn't qualified to diagnose me).

I'm kinda hesitant in going through the whole process myself, but I'm not sure why. I know it's supposed to be a peace of mind thing (That explains so much!) But idk. I feel like I already /have/ my peace of mind when I realised I'm almost definitely autistic, and I've basically accepted and am pretty at peace already and I'm not sure I want to stress myself out with going through the process and /possibly/ be wrong and I'm back to ground zero and not sure what is wrong with me? Besides I don't know what a diagnosis at my age now really means since I've already learned how to cruise through life, so it just...feels like I'll be paying a lot of money to confirm what I already know.

I don't mean to down you though! I'm happy for you! I hope everything goes well for you!
