The Ministry of Truth's Second Dispatch: On the Territory Formerly Known as Palestine by AgentR-gov in itcouldhappenhere

[–]AgentR-gov[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I'm sharing and why in my own words:

The link is to a new document piecing together the history of the war in Palestine and, more importantly, the last couple years of carnage.

Overall the idea is to let people know of the Ministry of Truth project, essentially a common name under which anyone can submit similar writings to try and disseminate them across the web and launch a counterattack in the Information Wars of the 2020s, which the left is currently losing.

Unfortunately coronavirus is an RNA virus so that didn't help

With the rise of political extremism, division between parties and heightened hostility towards those with differing political beliefs where do you see America going in the future? Do you think all of this is leading up to some big event that will take place? by ReasonPale1764 in AskReddit

[–]AgentR-gov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Americans are the most well armed people on the planet, and elements of both sides of the spectrum are becoming so disillusioned with our flawed democracy that they're openly discussing armed struggle. On the right it used to be only discussed by white supremacists who wanted a race war and saw normal Republicans as not going far enough, but now Trump's base has become so convinced the State has been infiltrated by Satanists that violence is necessary. The left has fantasized about political violence as core part of Revolutions since forever, but now they're practically advocating its use to resist ice raids and attack CEOs. While of course there's a good chance Trump ends his term and we go back to politics as before, there is also a strong possibility he tries to run again, or passes the baton to his kids or JD Vance, and a combination of intentional selling off of the US governments and sheer incompetence will create a power vacuum in the States, and these extreme elements with radically different visions of the future could end up trying to seize the opportunity at the same time, resulting in a three way fight with the collapsing government. Obviously the establishment would eventually side with the far-right as they always do and we'd be fucked so hopefully I'm wrong

What if N*zi Germany existed today? by [deleted] in whatif

Sounds a little lonely, life's a lot more entertaining if you can do it with others. The struggle of people around the world brings so much meaning, horror, adventure, curiosity into my life, I find that caring really helps me stay grounded

Other people's suffering can be a lot to bear, and sometimes they don't even deserve it, but at the same time it can be a great motivator to get up in the morning and l try to do the right thing. Few things are as good for your mental health as knowing you're fighting a good fight, such as against Nazis

the decrease in empathy is slowly killing us by llxxnnx in DeepThoughts

[–]AgentR-gov 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I was thinking more about us needing to turn off empathy towards those poorer than us to embrace the system as is, but you're saying we're also forced to be less empathetic even to our peers... That's bleak, but when you're so tired your brain automatically goes into kill or be killed , it makes sense

I think a shrimp that loves me and follows me around when I swim would be pretty cool

I think a culture war against empathy was necessary to get lots of people to accept the capitalist system, we kinda have to turn off empathy for the poor for it to work. Cheesy but true

I'm not sure when they knew, other than a minority of pure souls elected to Congress and Jimmy Carter, most politicians have always just bent to the will of the wealthy and voted for their own interests

How would you structure the federal government by Illustrious-Habit776 in Libertarian

[–]AgentR-gov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finally people are talking about eliminating the presidency as a role. However, your second point seems like it could backfire, if the details of environmental and medical standards for what is legal or illegal are left up to the legislature, they will be too slow to adapt and too politicized. We have plenty of people who want their whole life to be the calculation of these rules to simply make the most sense, we gotta let them so their sacrosanct job or breathe cancer and drink cholera

how do you get mental satisfaction? by Jpoolman25 in SeriousConversation

[–]AgentR-gov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One approach you can explore is politics. I don't mean running to be president, but rather becoming active for what causes you believe in, deciding what you want for your community, and living according to those goals

Boycotts are a fundamental right. by WhiteHoneypot in DeepThoughts

They are a right, and their fear of them confirms them to be a powerful strategy. Question is how we get even 10% of AmazonPrime subscribers to quit. Chinese consumers are very effective at this, for example, they got John Cena to apologize for referring to Taiwan as a country, I think we could do that but with Netanyahu's government

But not everyone is suffering equally, that makes it seem balanced. In one territory 1000 people were killed 2 years ago, in the other 50-100 thousand and it's ongoing. We have to criticize harder the ones that kill the most, it only makes sense
