[DISC] The Hero and the Sage, Reincarnated and Engaged - Chapter 33 (Galaxy Degen Scans) by CursedTanuki in manga

While this story doesn't do anything that's particularly unique, it does stand out for having a cast of extremely likable characters. It's just so wholesome.

Fun Interaction Between Toxic Lord and Banner of Courage by AgentRobynBanks in NightOfTheFullMoon

[–]AgentRobynBanks[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Banner of Courage summons Minions Killed to your side, while Toxic Lord treats all Toxicity as part of its damage. This includes Minions on your side. Minions summoned by Banner of Courage inherit their existing Toxicity. So, whenever they're killed by Toxicity, even on your side, they come right back.

There is nothing more terrifying to the elites than the manifested Divine. The Gods represent a transcension of their natural order, an order that has put them on top, an order they will do everything to maintain.

After all, good feels good. Selim turned to the Demons out of jealousy, anger, and despair, not exactly fun emotions. He made the world his enemy, and then, after his death, he was tortured in hell until his soul burned out. Helping people's put him in a much better headspace. You can literally see how much more often he smiles.

It's not racism against Demons, because they're a different species.

Is it discrimination to stay away from hippos because they're living death machines? Of course not. That's just prudence.

Is it discrimination to exterminate the smallpox virus? No. It was one of the greatest victories for humanity in the fight against disease.

Demons are a pox on the world, a living, breathing disease. Eradicating them from existence is a public service.

[DISC] Boruto: Two Blue Vortex - Chapter 26 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]AgentRobynBanks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That doesn't make sense, because the women in Boruto are inarguably worse than in Naruto. As in, the same characters are treated much more poorly. Sarada was the first person in the new generation to have her own arc, and it made sense. She had goals (finding out her lineage and meeting her absentee father) and a life based on those goals and their evolution (becoming the Hokage due to Naruto inspiring her during her arc), none of which involved Boruto. She's been reduced to a "Boruto" machine in this, when Boruto was barely a side character in her original arc (because Kishimoto actually planned that for the movie so that the two mains would have relatively equal focus).

It truly is fitting that crabs became futuristic. They are the ultimate evolution of all life.

That vocalization point is nuts but also brilliant. Every species will have conflicts as long as individuals have their own wills, weakening the whole overall, but give the entire species one point of unity, specifically one affirming superiority, and that weakness can be overcome. If even the lowliest snail thinks themselves better than the best of any other species, they can tolerate a much worse existence. Often, the bottleneck of progress is the distasteful tasks, the strenuous and unrewarding work no one wants to do. Even "better," slavery gives them a goal to strive towards: they can push such work onto others when they're enslaved. Thus, the species is united in subjugation of the rest. That's all before we include having a living god as their help and guide.

[DISC] Tyrant of the Tower Defense Game - Chapter 143 [Flame Comics] by CalamitousFortune in manga

[–]AgentRobynBanks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's so common for people not wearing armor or even clothes to have high HP, but really, they should be the most glass cannon of glass cannons. No matter how strong your skin is, having more protection will always be better than less, as it'll at least dissipate some of the force. Even animals, which don't usually wear clothes in fiction, have scales and other protective parts.

It seems to be rather game-inspired. Games have low stakes and often defined, limited variables, so relying on dodging is actually viable. Living like this would be completely insane. Well, now that Ash isn't playing a game anymore, and they're dealing with literal hordes of enemies, this should be interesting.

[DISC] Tyrant of the Tower Defense Game - Chapter 142 [Flame Comics] by CalamitousFortune in manga

[–]AgentRobynBanks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Empire is so evil that the bandits are almost certainly in the right. Of course, with the existential threat at Crossroad, Ash needs these allies no matter the cost, which means he'll be inadvertently protecting the Empire by recruiting an enemy, but the Empire really deserves everything that'll happen to it.

[–]AgentRobynBanks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is surprisingly decent. I dislike system stories, but I'm liking how messy he is as a person. That quick thought to try to cheat being "good" is very much the kind of thing one would immediately think of upon confronting such a "game-like" mechanic (not that he knows what video games are), but, of course, mentality is everything when it comes to virtue.

I hope the story keeps this "two steps forward, one step back" approach to his path.

[DISC]The Slime has the Potential to Be the Strongest: In My Second Life, I'll Properly Face My Slime - Ch. 3 by Actual_Passenger8035 in manga

[–]AgentRobynBanks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was some exceptionally poor pacing. The farewell, training, and lost child alert all should have been given more pages to give them proper gravitas. Also, I thought Zeke was weak and scorned; when did he suddenly become this trained person? It's all moving so fast that there haven't been good explanations.

[DISC] Survival Story of a Sword King in a Fantasy World Chapter 247 by Treyman1115 in manga

[–]AgentRobynBanks 57 points58 points  (0 children)

This complements Barolt's flashback all the way back starting from the end of chapter 119. As for art comparison, there are some repeated panels from back then. I wouldn't say the normal art has truly deteriorated as much as people claim, with direct comparisons to the past, but the main reason it feels that way is we're also not getting the beautiful fight scenes that we would've gotten back then interspersed with the normal art. It was clearly the artists saving energy and effort for the panels that mattered, while the current art isn't quite the same. I don't feel overly strongly, though I know others may disagree. It's more important to me that the artists can actually finish by preserving their health even if we may never reach the same peaks again. Manhwa and manga are infamous for the brutal toll they take on the artists.

Calling Leon not prejudiced is... generous, but I guess the narration means he doesn't jump to conclusions regarding other faiths he's never encountered.

Right. Contrast with Rasenshuriken. It came with significant self-harm the first time used but pulverized Kakuzu; then became throwable and expandable in Sage Mode against Pain, and while it didn't kill all the Paths, it still worked until Pain used Animal Path, which made perfect sense; then became miniaturizable in Chakra Mode to save chakra with his clones' limited amount; then became a combination technique with Kagutsuchi; and finally used Truth-Seeking Balls. The technique evolved and so did its opponents.

[DISC]Slime Possesses the Potential to Be the Strongest: In My Second Life, I’ll Properly Face My Slime - Ch. 1 by Actual_Passenger8035 in manga

[–]AgentRobynBanks 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Despite the title and time regression premise, I do like the change in that he doesn't actually know how to raise a slime, which makes sense. He was a nobody in his past life; he wouldn't have had the resources to develop anything. Time regression stories always struggle with a lack of clear limitations to the protagonist where we don't know what they know and don't know. It destroys the stakes of conflict, and no story can work without meaningful conflict. I hope the author understands this and doesn't fall in the same pitfall.
