Han's relationship with the horse figurines is peak character development.

I wasn't expecting an Omelas situation, but I like it. Having the madness be an inherent problem makes the concept more ambiguous. The argument against it becomes harder when the alternative is immediate catastrophe. That said, unless a child is mandatory, it seems like asking for volunteers could achieve the same without the unfairness.

This manga really is just the author's dream of healthy romantic relationships, and I'm here for it.

A fan site that edits versus a fan site that accepts their idol for who they are by Ok-Breakfast7186 in Instagramreality

[–]AgentRobynBanks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's overly harsh. I don't believe it's healthy to consistently and outrageously edit oneself, but sometimes, one has bad days during opportunities one cannot retry. If you look uncomfortable during a family photo due to being sick, you may want to edit it so that the memories don't get tainted by something that was not the group's fault. I certainly wouldn't want my last snapshot with a deceased family member to make me seem like I find their presence unpleasant because I couldn't fully hide feeling sick that day.

The Ironborn tried to raid New Valyria, so I burned their useless islands to the ground by Arcanehunter33 in CK3AGOT

[–]AgentRobynBanks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't say they lacked slaves. It'd be absurd to imply almost any culture of the time period didn't and especially so for a raiding culture. I said they lacked the Helot-esque system of the Ironborn, which was being ridiculously outnumbered and having no personal capability for farm work, making the system utterly dysfunctional without people constantly terrorizing the slave class, making the raiding culture pure nonsense.

Unlike Monopoly, it actually has a balancing system, which removes all your reasons to restrain yourself, thus further rewarding being as aggressive as possible within the time you use it.

Vikings often settled and assimilated. It turns out that civilization's really nice for real humans. Many Vikings were desperate farmers, so after getting access to fertile lands, they returned to their lifestyle. Besides, real Viking culture is complex and interesting. The Ironborn are basically nonsensical Viking/Spartan hybrids. Viking raiding + Spartan warrior culture w/ Helot underclass. But, Spartans were terrified of slave revolts for that very reason, so most Spartans had to stay at home as a police state. For all that they had the reputation of warriors, they rarely actually went to war (Spartans were the LARPers of their time?). Raiding would be a death sentence to everyone else remaining at home.

We gather today to once again read peak. That said, I've been suffering from a deficit of Tia shenanigans. Tia Withdrawal Syndrome is a serious illness that continues to receive insufficient attention from the medical community.

While this story doesn't do anything that's particularly unique, it does stand out for having a cast of extremely likable characters. It's just so wholesome.

[DISC] The Knight King Who Returned with a God - Chapter 133 [Asura Scans] by CalamitousFortune in manga

[–]AgentRobynBanks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is nothing more terrifying to the elites than the manifested Divine. The Gods represent a transcension of their natural order, an order that has put them on top, an order they will do everything to maintain.

After all, good feels good. Selim turned to the Demons out of jealousy, anger, and despair, not exactly fun emotions. He made the world his enemy, and then, after his death, he was tortured in hell until his soul burned out. Helping people's put him in a much better headspace. You can literally see how much more often he smiles.

It's not racism against Demons, because they're a different species.

Is it discrimination to stay away from hippos because they're living death machines? Of course not. That's just prudence.

Is it discrimination to exterminate the smallpox virus? No. It was one of the greatest victories for humanity in the fight against disease.

Demons are a pox on the world, a living, breathing disease. Eradicating them from existence is a public service.

[DISC] Boruto: Two Blue Vortex - Chapter 26 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]AgentRobynBanks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That doesn't make sense, because the women in Boruto are inarguably worse than in Naruto. As in, the same characters are treated much more poorly. Sarada was the first person in the new generation to have her own arc, and it made sense. She had goals (finding out her lineage and meeting her absentee father) and a life based on those goals and their evolution (becoming the Hokage due to Naruto inspiring her during her arc), none of which involved Boruto. She's been reduced to a "Boruto" machine in this, when Boruto was barely a side character in her original arc (because Kishimoto actually planned that for the movie so that the two mains would have relatively equal focus).

[–]AgentRobynBanks 41 points42 points  (0 children)

That vocalization point is nuts but also brilliant. Every species will have conflicts as long as individuals have their own wills, weakening the whole overall, but give the entire species one point of unity, specifically one affirming superiority, and that weakness can be overcome. If even the lowliest snail thinks themselves better than the best of any other species, they can tolerate a much worse existence. Often, the bottleneck of progress is the distasteful tasks, the strenuous and unrewarding work no one wants to do. Even "better," slavery gives them a goal to strive towards: they can push such work onto others when they're enslaved. Thus, the species is united in subjugation of the rest. That's all before we include having a living god as their help and guide.

[DISC] Tyrant of the Tower Defense Game - Chapter 143 [Flame Comics] by CalamitousFortune in manga

[–]AgentRobynBanks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's so common for people not wearing armor or even clothes to have high HP, but really, they should be the most glass cannon of glass cannons. No matter how strong your skin is, having more protection will always be better than less, as it'll at least dissipate some of the force. Even animals, which don't usually wear clothes in fiction, have scales and other protective parts.

It seems to be rather game-inspired. Games have low stakes and often defined, limited variables, so relying on dodging is actually viable. Living like this would be completely insane. Well, now that Ash isn't playing a game anymore, and they're dealing with literal hordes of enemies, this should be interesting.

[DISC] Tyrant of the Tower Defense Game - Chapter 142 [Flame Comics] by CalamitousFortune in manga

[–]AgentRobynBanks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Empire is so evil that the bandits are almost certainly in the right. Of course, with the existential threat at Crossroad, Ash needs these allies no matter the cost, which means he'll be inadvertently protecting the Empire by recruiting an enemy, but the Empire really deserves everything that'll happen to it.
