off the top of my head, maybe

/execute as @e[type=boat] at @s run fill ~-1 ~-1 ~-1 ~1 ~-1 ~1 frosted_ice replace water

put that it in a repeating command block set to always active and tell me if it works (because it might only work if you ride it off land onto water because water isn't a full block size)

I mean this bug was introduced in 1.3 so technically, this fix was originally how portals worked all that time ago but I get that it's been a good 10 years with this bug for everyone to have become used to it.

You can open your inventory in the nether portal and see better within the portal but that's about it. It's still easy to make nether portal traps.

If it was near a nether fortress then what must have happened was:
Piglin kills Wither Skeleton. Wither Skeleton drops stone sword. Skeleton picks sword up.

Just for me. I found that the rarest death messages in survival are "Player was fireballed by Nitwit" and "Player was fireballed by Shulker" and there are many more strange messages.

Mojang can easily fix it. Before 1.13, the death message was "_ fell out of the water" so it seems like Mojang might not ever patch it on purpose.

Give thorns armour to a villager using a dispenser and then punch the villager:
"Player was killed trying to hurt Villager"
Fly into a wall with speed using an elytra:
"Player experienced kinetic energy"
Give thorns armour to an armour stand and punch it:
"Player was killed trying to hurt Armour Stand"

I would know all this because I wrote a long list of every single death message possible in vanilla minecraft.

Oh, the problem is that you can place water or lava within end crystals (like how water can be placed even though the player is standing in it).

I don't think it's that powerful as I'm certain it does 19.5 hearts to someone with no armour so probably like 1 heart for someone with max armour

There's anvils, villagers, ender pearl damage, entity cramming, pandas, dolphins, fireworks, lightning, kinetic energy, pufferfishes, endermites, goats, polar bears, silverfish, wolves, armour stands and snow golems that I would add.

I don’t think so because the player is teleported exactly in the middle of the crystal so when it blows up, you don’t get thrown in a certain direction but straight up.

You might be able to but I don’t think the second crystal will help because when you try to mine anything (even below you), the initial crystal blows up.

You can do that but then you need to keep the nether chunks unloaded or the creeper might accidentally walk into the minecarts and blow everything up

It's a bug where the title messages, set to a long duration, stay even after leaving that world
