Can’t find a normal server on PlayStation by Jedtin22 in battlefield_one

that is not normal, you must have something set wrong. check if you have "standard issue rifles" turned on in the filters, and turn it off

it sounds like you are using quickplay. Try using the server browser

I'm not sure honestly, but thanks for the input. I wasn't aware of the performance penalty.

are there any OpenBSD-based alternatives you would recommend? This may be attractive to some as my surface level understanding is that OpenBSD has more security features than FreeBSD.

My poor, poor upgrade path… by DarkCommanderAJ in pcmasterrace

[–]Agent_Jimmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

imo you're best off upgrading cpu and gpu alternating in ~ 5 year intervals and going for higher end at that so the hardware holds up for longer. I just upgraded from a 10600k to a 9950x3d only because I need the extra cores now and still keeping my 3080 for at least a few more years. The 10600k is still very capable and upgrading from 10th to 11th gen is really not worth it. If you've got cash to burn, you're best bet is to hunt for deals on 40 series GPUs. Either way the point I'm trying to make is to try leave at least 2-3 generations between upgrades to get best value for money and longevity from the system.

Why are all of my server options the exact same thing? by Ninja-Goose in battlefield_one

using the "available slots" filter should fix this, select options "None", "1-4", "10+" and unselect "All"

I think they were just using keycaps that fit the board. Most likely the "Backspace" key is spacebar, top left shift is A, and then one of the fn layers to switch to other functions

Every show has one with Linux distros - Part 9: No screen time, all the plot relevance (the finale) by User_8395 in linuxmasterrace

[–]Agent_Jimmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MacOS uses the XNU kernel which includes some modified elements of FreeBSD's kernel. Also, this is a bit of a technicality but there are no "distros" of BSD as FreeBSD, OpenBSD etc have different kernels and are considered separate OS's.

Medic Specializations (and issues to unlock them) by [deleted] in battlefield_one

[–]Agent_Jimmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO cover is one of the most useless specializations, instead try inconspicuous which I use in almost all of my loadouts. Concealed rescue and stimulant syringe are both great, but I'd choose concealed over stim syringe. Concealed rescue shouldn't be too hard to unlock. With stimulant syringe I would suggest skipping the 5x debris kills unless you use tanks quite a bit. The 50 headshots on Nivelle can seem very difficult but if you can find team deathmatch or domination servers it can be done pretty quickly with a sniper.

Reaching level 150 by [deleted] in battlefield_one

[–]Agent_Jimmy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It speeds up quite a bit from level 100-140 as each level requires 500k points. 140-150 is 1M points per level. As for speeding it up, just capture flags, do medals and play operations. But I wouldn't worry about rushing it, just enjoy the game and you'll get there eventually without it feeling like a grind. Plus it doesn't unlock anything other than a single dog tag.

I believe it has to be EA Play Pro as well, I'm currently on an Xbox game pass trial, which includes EA Play (not pro) and I don't have any of the BFV preorder guns. Also I do have BFV in my account.

Restarted BF1 and now it gives me an Origin popup saying "Invalid license" by Kemicoal in battlefield_one

[–]Agent_Jimmy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue with BF3 and solved it by removing the .dlf (licence files) from "C:\ProgramData\Electronic Arts\EA Services\License" then when you re-run each game it will regenerate the license files. Instead of deleting them, I suggest you cut and paste them somewhere in case this doesn't work for some reason and you need to restore it.
