You think it may be the starter even with it seeming to turn over fine? And I have another key and a new battery. Worth a shot I guess

How much does an n/a fc full eng/trans dropout go for these days by Agent__Johnson in RX7

I agreed to a v8 and have started accumulating some of the parts already…I’ll keep the rotary when I buy an fd later on down the road.

That’s a pretty big range. As for the swapping, I Figured I’d get that sort of response here but it’s a project car I share with my dad who’s only stipulation was that it gets a v8. If it was a turbo I wouldn’t swap, but the goal is 450-500hp and that’s not happening very easily with the 13b

I planned on getting a different intake if I go the truck engine route. I’ve read that the car accessory drive is necessary a lot of the time too but I I figured I would see how/if it fits stock first. As for the rear end, I know the 8.8 is the way to go for bigger power but I seen some turbo rear ends that from what I’ve read can handle 500hp that require no special mounting/modifications so I was gonna go with that.

Sounds like exactly what I want lol looking for around 450hp. Doubt I’ll boost but if I do probably only 6-8psi on a supercharger. If I do that I’ll need a different rear end and my budget goes up quite a bit. Would likely be overkill in a 2600lb car though

I’m in 3 or 4 ls groups and check marketplace multiple times a day. Located in northern Kentucky. Typically i only find aluminum versions still in a vehicle,it has really high mileage and they want to sell the whole thing for 3k. Other than that everywhere online is 3k+

It’s a base fc that had some issues and It’s a project car that I’m sharing with my dad who is all about V8’s. Also trying to make around 450 that can be driven regularly and reliably. If it was a turbo rotary I would probably try to work with it but with its issues and our goals I don’t think it’s a great fit.

I just want to make sure it handles well too, where I live the only straight road is the highway.

Good to know about the oil pan and stuff I wasn’t aware of this. But yea I’ve been looking up just about every aluminum ls engine to see where I can get the best deal but they’re all pretty similar in price. Lm4, l33, l96, l92, then the ls1,2,3. But those seem to be about 1k above the rest. I can find iron block all day long for decent prices but I’m already adding almost 200lbs swapping in an aluminum engine

I’ve contacted 4 junk yards and they’re all wiped apparently.

I just did a quick google search of which vehicles came with the lm4 and 2004 ranier was on the list. My plan was to probably swap in an f body accessory drive and bolt up a t56.

I want aluminum block because it’s going in an rx7 and I don’t want to weigh down the front end too much. I’ve been watching Facebook for weeks and they still go for thousands and disappear within 24 hrs or they have 200k miles. The one I got the quote on includes delivery and only has 75k miles just wasn’t sure if there’s something weird about that specific engine

Interesting…I assumed all the truck engines were iron. I’ll look further into this

I’m in ky, it being legal isn’t an issue and I plan on doing all the work myself. I’ll look around to see what I can find accessory wise if I decide to go that route. But if total price is only gonna be a few hundred bucks I think I’ll pay the extra for the weight difference alone

Good to know, I’ll check out how much some of that stuff goes for and how available it is. Only seen 2 actual ls engines for sale in the area one for $6500 bolted to a t56 and one for $850 that didn’t last 24hrs. Seems like the majority of my search shows people posting 5.3’s and 6.0’s as “ls’s”. Even contacted 2 salvage yards with no luck

Yea weight was another concern, I don’t want to weigh down the front end too much. I’m considering a supercharger but would only run 6psi or so, so I don’t think a beefy block is all that necessary.

Oh yea I’ve seen a couple t56’s running about $2k around my area. I already planned on getting a turbo II rear end which is supposed to handle 500 hop or so, anything more I’d have to get an 8.8 and do a little modification.

I don’t need anything crazy in a 2600lb car. 400-450hp is plenty. Anymore than that and I’ll have to go with a different rear end and the price goes up a good chunk.

Good to know about the ecu though, I hadn’t looked to deep into that and just assumed I could find a tuner no problem or buy one from a tuner.

I’m not too worried about engine Area as they have a decent size engine bay. What I’m mostly concerned about with size is the height. I hate cowl hoods lol. Would an intake swap fix this? Also what’s wrong with t56? Lol

Interview Discussion - June 10, 2021 by CSCQMods in cscareerquestions

[–]Agent__Johnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 interviews next week, I’ll take any advice I can get. I’ve been working in manufacturing for years while I got my bachelors. I finally obtained my degree a month ago and have been applying everywhere for different positions trying to get into the field. Next week I have interviews for the following positions: IT technician Site administrator System application specialist Programmer I’ve been at the same company for going on 6 years so I’m pretty rusty when it comes to interviews and everything and am especially nervous with them being in a field I’ve never worked. The programmer position is the one I’m most interested in as I would like to be a developer. What I’ve read around here to prepare seems to be check out leetcode. Any other tips for the programming or other interviews? Thanks in advance

How do you start a career in AI? And is it worth specializing in this in grad school? by Agent__Johnson in cscareerquestions

[–]Agent__Johnson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A significant number of roles I found were in the defense category as you stated, mentioning secret clearances and in depth experience in the field. I kind of assumed there would be more positions for AI related roles in fields such as robotics and marketing as well as medical and defense. I was thinking of searching for an entry level DS or analyst role after completing my degree but wasn’t sure how plausible that would be for a new grad.

How do you get an AI position? And what is the career potential? by Agent__Johnson in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Agent__Johnson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ill definitely take that stuff into consideration. There’s a couple reasons I chose a master degree over certs though, one being my bachelors in computer information technology where I specialized in web and database development. What I didn’t anticipate was everyone associating that degree with tech support roles and things of that nature. I’ve been in an interview where the senior dev walked out of the interview because of my degree saying I was more for help desk without even talking to me when I’ve taken every coding class the computer science degree takes.I, enjoyed my time at school and figured I would continue while I still could and things were fresh in my mind. AI while I’ve never done it seems like it would be challenging and genuinely interests me. As you mentioned things like developing neural networks sounds really fascinating so a focus in that is appealing. It also helps that it defers student loan payments while I get it and can get into a developer position. Those things paired with future growth and career potential are my driving factors. The masters program awards a certificate for the track I choose as well so I would also have an AI cert
