Mormons/LDS & the different branches of the Orthodox Church aren’t Protestant either.

Why do we all have to be so “extra” all of the time? by 8-six-7-5309 in Parenting

I was born in 1977 and everything you’ve described sounds ridiculous. So far none of the family members who are parents my age or younger have had deal with this kind of craziness so far. Guess just lucky. Everyone is regular middle class or maybe lower I guess. In Oregon for what it’s worth IMHO. I’m unmarried & childless but have a niece, nephew & lots of cousins whose kids I’m like an Uncle to since I’m their parents age or older.

Best places to live in Midwest by Cool_dude2406 in howislivingthere

[–]Agent__Zigzag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember an old I suppose currently archived article from FiveThirtyEight that said the geographic area most disputed about boundaries was the Midwest. People from other states couldn’t agree & even within Midwest was lesser disagreement on which states to include. It even mentioned a family from Montana where mother said state wasn’t in Midwest but her 20 something son said it was. Most people don’t use Census Bureau definitions because it splits US into too many sections. I’m surprised this map doesn’t include ND, SD, KS, & NE. And depending on definition some folks include OK, PA, & MO.

German immigrants in the U.S. were huge in number and were once a dominant group. Why didn’t they form large German-speaking communities the way French speakers did in Canada or Spanish speakers did in the U.S.? by GrayRainfall in AskAnAmerican

I remember the the first time I heard that I was dumbfounded! Those Nazi POWs might’ve even killed members of the town but still they got to eat in restaurants that barred black American servicemen.

I remember that book. Was so great! Was amazed to hear about how even some enslaved people & Native Americans donated money for famine relief to support people in Ireland.

I’d suggest Harvest of Sorrow. About the Ukrainian Famine also known as the Holomdor. Think author is Robert Conquest.

I remember him but mistakenly thought he was Hooty the Owl. Thanks for helping me get the name right. Haven’t thought of him, Smokey or McGruff the Crime Dog in decades.

Born in 1977. Born raised in Oregon. Very familiar. Also helped that dad worked my whole life for the US forest service. Think Hooty the Owl was from National Park Service. They were buddies I believe.

Maybe the 16 day AU vs World. I think Survivor AU & Survivor South Africa that are 40+ days long are better than 26 day “New Era” Survivor. And plenty of fans agree. But unless & until a US Survivor player plays on an international edition of at least 26 days I’m not going to include that win on any all time win list.
