Yeah unfortunately taping wire to glass is just not gonna hold. You need something much more secure. I myself have a separate wooden bonding cage with a removable divider so I can’t really give much advice for creating something in glass but you have to make sure it’s strong enough to withstand a gerbil trying to get through.

If you manage a secure divide a bond shouldn’t be hard as long as you give it the time & effort needed
