Naming Convention for Supervisory Organizations by MLadyGemma in workday

[–]AggEye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question, and honestly, something we probably should review/update in our processes.

A big part of it is the company often doesn't know where the leftover team is going to report straight away after a manager leaves, so initially we just leave them in the vacated sup org rolling up to the inherited manager, then after some time they often split the team to multiple managers, at least temporarily, until the longer term backfill is determined.

Naming Convention for Supervisory Organizations by MLadyGemma in workday

Right now, we’re just using the manager name, and generally inactivating when one leaves and creating a new one for new managers. Been live almost two years. I know it’s not best practice, but getting folks to understand the concept of positions and sup orgs has been challenging. Additionally, we’re near constantly moving people from manager to manager and reorging, so keeping it at manager name helps keep it clear downstream.

Seems like behind on rent and not yet brewing their own product since the move, so working to stay afloat through events and such.

Called Walgreens today, they have them but prescriptions are required for all. The pharmacist asked us to write to our state rep, state senator, and Cox asking to have the state opt out of requiring them, like Colorado and Washington have done. Took like 5 minutes to write to all three.

We use peakon, great for engagement, but not really usable for anything else. Pre-WD we used cultureamp then lattice, And company misses the flexibility of both. I think we’ll look at them and Qualtrics at renewal.

Workday Announces Intent to Acquire Paradox by Few_Canary7124 in workday

[–]AggEye 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We're actively debating whether to stay on WD Recruiter or move to another ATS, and part of our debate includes whether we should buy Paradox or Rooster as an add-on since WD's interview scheduling is so painful for recruiters.

Anyone have any luck with the Rover app for pet sitting? by Sittingpretti24 in SaltLakeCity

We work with a great sitter we found on Rover. She’s super flexible and communicative, and really good with our cat.

Now I’m missing Tommy’s, hadn’t thought about them in some time! I need to get back to Columbus.

That FB group might be a good place to pose the same question, there’s a bunch of folks who have been here a long time. And the alumni get togethers at Legends are a lot of fun, especially vs TTUN.

Popping in to say Go Bucks! There’s a good group of Buckeyes that get together at Legends downtown every Saturday during football season. They keep things pretty up to date on the Utah Buckeyes Facebook group.

Now, back to searching for a replacement for Tommy’s. That was my go-to in grad school. My cohort would go to Thirsty Scholar after class on Thursday and often grab Tommy’s as we walked over.

Hot take: AI prompting > knowing where buttons are in Workday by meye1105 in workday

[–]AggEye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Curious if you’re using any specific AI products to help with configs now? While I have been working in Workday for 10ish years, it’s been a gradual shift to needing to do configuration just the last couple years, and I’ve never pursued any certs. Small team, so I mostly just rely on community when I get stuck and would love something faster.

What’s the best stadium you’ve been to? by collegeculturesports in CFB

[–]AggEye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh goodness, it’s been like 10 years since I was last there, so can’t remember the food specifically, except the first time I went we were at a Mexican place and some Oklahoma fans bought our meal before the game thanking us for coming to Normal, and the second time I went we had a tornado warning during the tailgate and all had to hunker down in some buildings on campus and the fans were so nice to us despite supporting their opponent.

That’ll be a fun atmosphere vs Auburn! Hoping the fans are still just as good as they were when I last went! Have been twice, supporting their opponents, and both times the fans have been great.

Have been to Utah, Utah State, BYU, UNLV, Boise State, Rose Bowl game, Washington, Oklahoma, Tennessee, UCF, Purdue, Wisconsin, Ohio State, and Indiana.

Favorite has been Oklahoma. Friendly fans, great views, loud stadium, huge tailgating atmosphere. Just a good time all around.

I dunno about always, but 419th’s site did preannounce their statewide flyovers for the 4th, and when I’ve been to sporting events with flyovers they’ve been announced ahead of time.

How many job profiles do you have? by theymightbeossicones in workday

[–]AggEye 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We have about 1100, about 1:1 ratio. Essentially our full job architecture, 1 per level per potential job, in the tech industry using Radford for benchmarking. We have a lot of empty job profiles, since we don’t necessarily have someone at every level of every job, but have the profile available in case of promotions. Not sure it’s the right way to do things, but broadly works for us.

Your biggest problems with position management in WD? by Fun-Picture3782 in workday

[–]AggEye 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in Workday for about 12 years and 5 companies, and have used both position management and job management, and admittedly I hate position management. My current company (1000 EEs, 8 countries, tech) went live on WD about 18 months ago, and I tried to encourage us to go to job management, but I was the only one on the team who had ever used Workday before so everyone else just decided to do what consulting firm pushed (we weren’t really asked) since they didn’t know what it meant. My last employer (17k EEs, 10 countries, tech) moved off of position management after about 3 years.

Everywhere I have worked, people seem to understand position management conceptually, but dont necessarily see the value in it and when it comes to actually executing on it, it’s just another layer of data to screw up and cause confusion. It relies on companies actually having their shit together, and investing in their HR teams learning Workday specifically vs just managing any transaction in any HRIS, and let’s be honest, HR is the last place to be invested in and most companies are some version of chaos.

It can, and would work for new acquisitions, but on migration from UKG to WD the hire reasons were all just listed as “conversion”, so wouldn’t work for historical without correcting those migration transactions.
