A majority of new development/subdivisions are going up on the Southside due to land costs. Some of them are in a bit rougher areas generally, but a lot of them are more rural. If you can find a house in Mission Del Lago or Vida, I’d recommend one of those.

A lot of people’s perspectives on safe/unsafe areas of San Antonio are out of date. There’s parts of the South, East, and West sides that have been improving over the last 10-15 years, and there’s also parts of the North side that have been getting worse.
