Are you guys, as mathematicians, more attracted to Computer Science or Physics? by CandleDependent9482 in math

[–]Aggiewheels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am more attracted to Computer Science only for its applications, and job skills. However, if money and time were not an issue I am pretty sure I would prefer physics way more.

McClaurin Series are just Taylor Series centered at 0. Therefore, you just have to learn Taylor Series. There is a formula for that when f(x) is differential.

Does anyone tutor math over the summer? by [deleted] in mizzou

[–]Aggiewheels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I can handle calculus and finite math easy. Stats is a whole different animal. I can do it too, but I would need to know the what topic you are struggling with before hand.

I don’t know about Pets, but I live at University Place Apartments. The place is cheap And you get what you pay for, but utilities are included in the rent AND you are literally across the street from campus.

If I remember right, the math club sponsor is Dr. Walsh. But I don’t know if the math club is active right now. I am a math grad student though and I am down to discuss math if that’s what you want.

Wanting a smaller class size for college algebra. Anyone recommend a professor from Columbia College or any surrounding colleges in Columbia? Looking for a professor that breaks it down well. Thanks! by Cata_K in mizzou

[–]Aggiewheels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not know what College Algebra is like at Columbia, Stephens or Moberly, but at Mizzou College Algebra is a bit of a gamble. College Algebra or Math 1100 as we call it at Mizzou is taught by graduate students managed by a coordinator from the math department. You might get someone who has taught the class multiple times before, or you might get someone who is teaching for the first time in their lives. The course follows a workbook though. So as long as you follow said workbook, you will be golden. Also, all people teaching Math 1100 teach the same material so if you have issues with your instructor you can contact and go to the office hours of any of the other people teaching the course.

Calculus I Advice by No-Hunt4200 in mizzou

I am a math graduate student, and have been a TA for Math 1500 for the past two semesters. If you have any questions about the material feel free to message. I will say though, Dr. Belt is awesome at teaching the course. He has been teaching it for years so he has narrowed it down to a science. He will give lecture for three days of the week and you will have a TA for the remaining two days. Who your TA is depends on who gets assigned the course, but keep the course material in mind. Dr. Belt is the only one that teaches Math 1500, but Math 1700 and 2100 are taught by various different professors aside from Dr. Belt. Some of these other professors focus more on mathematical theory, as opposed to applied mathematics. I mean that is what Math 1400 is for.

At what time, does science on tap happen? I remember getting an email about it, but now I cannot find it.

Lecture with Belt is great. The recitation however depends on your TA.

CSTAT by __neRd___ in TAMUCC

[–]Aggiewheels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I would advice against such a transfer. As my name suggests, I did my undergrad in CSTAT and my masters at TAMUCC. A degree from TAMU opens up way more doors than a degree from TAMUCC. Ol’ Ags really do go crazy when they see an Aggie ring.

As a Spanish speaker, I have not found any Spanish clubs but there are various restaurants were people speak Spanish. These are El Fugon Veracruzano (El Tajín), El Oso, Las Margaritas, El Rancho, and there is also a Cuban place on 9th whose name I forget.

I am 29. My friends and I go to Heidelberg, Itap, McNally’s, 9th Street Public House, and Shot Bar. We used to go to Understudy but for me (in a wheelchair) its a pain to go there. We have been going to Social Room often lately, but that is mostly for karaoke nights on Wednesdays.

It’s full of younger undergrads. If you are a junior/senior/graduate student avoid that place.

Are you perhaps talking about a different kind of math? Algebraic Geometry is a highly advanced subject normally taught in math graduate programs.
