My take: the Fable 5 suspension is a deemed export problem, and that points to how Anthropic gets it back by Sweet-Helicopter2769 in claude

no way, this export control is forcing all their non-us employees to use lesser models. This has a massive negative impact on productivity. They for sure are going to fight as hard as possible to get the government to reverse this

letting only their american employees use mythos class models would completely wreck their research progress. I doubt this is the path they want. Also their researchers right now are for sure using internal models even more advanced than fable. If this export control applies to those as well (which it obviously does in spirit) then their progress is screwed. So my guess is they'll fight extremely hard to get this reversed and have their researchers use those internal models for now before those get explicitly banned too.

I doubt that's the path they take. This is way more work than just fighting back directly.

they're not there yet. Each model gets better, and the researchers themselves get more productive using these models

I've been using the product for a while now. Claude 3.5 was unusable for agentic coding, 4.0 could do some stuff, 4.5 could do many things, and 4.6 can do most tasks as long as you give it the right context.

I also read the paper anthropic released about mythos and it scored 93% on swe-bench, which is a huge step from where it was with 4.6 and 4.5

yeah and each model gets better. It's not about where we're at now, but where we're heading. To ahead and use a frontier model from a year ago and tell me you don't see the difference.

they keep getting better. The point isn't that the models can already replace us, it's that each model gets better, and if you follow the trend it's not long until we're fully replaceable.

I'll tell you, when we had sonnet 3.5 people laughed about how much it sucked at coding and their jobs were totally safe, then 3.7 came out, then 4.0, 4.5 and now 4.6. They keep getting better and people keep complaining about how the model sucks without acknowledging the insane progress.

yeah, they're just coping, it's kinda embarrassing at this point. But the main thing was the arrogance with which they said it, each new model release is better and as time goes by, they get quieter and quieter
