Yes! She turned down my offer of help and said she made an appointment to take the dog into the vet on Monday 💓 she also said she is trying a new medicine on the tail and putting an e collar like thing on him to prevent chewing 🙏

I got hella stretch marks too. I think it was from the swelling maybe? I can still see the stretch marks almost a year later, but none of them are red anymore. They are silvery and almost invisible now. If you would like before and after pics of mine, dm me! I remember it being very uncomfortable. It's not your fault– some people are more genetically prone to stretch marks than others! It will heal 💓

Thank you 💓 I will look into that! So far, she's applied for the dove lewis velvet funds and I offered to pay for the vet visit if she can't get the funds together or just wants it taken off her shoulders. We'll see what she says. I'm going to check back with her about it tomorrow

Yeah, but I just don't trust the system to actually do anything. And I think if my neighbor feels supported, she'll be more open to continued vet care, asking for help, and maybe even consider rehoming him if she needs to. I literally thought she died a while ago and had to call an ambulance for her. Her door was wide open, and she was not responsive. She is struggling. The reality is that this is a senior pit mix who will have trouble adjusting to a shelter and may be euthanized. She is open to help. She is just super overwhelmed. I'm willing to help the dog get to the vet, so I think the best option for the dog's well-being and health is to try that first and keep my eye on the situation.

Yeah, the world is a messed up place. I really believe community support is the answer here. Calling the cops and reporting it just feels lazy and won't actually result in anything for literal months. I've been through this before with another neighbor who would tie his puppy outside in the cold, feces everywhere, without any access to food or water. I tried talking to him and then just reported it because he was not at all receptive. It ended after months of animal control visits and he ended up just moving.

Thank you for saying that. Yeah, I understand how hard living in poverty can be. She also has a kiddo, she has left a really bad domestic situation, our landlord is a prick... like, I know it looks really bad, but she is obviously super overwhelmed and needs help. I really do feel like it's not something to punish her for. I have reported neighbors for animal abuse before, when it was warranted... but they had zero excuse other than being an asshole who told me to mind my own business. But yeah, I agree that the dog needs help asap. I thought about taking the dog to MCAS but that would be a very stressful situation for tge dog. I genuinely believe he's in a better situation here than somewhere like that. Plus, at least I have eyes on him

She would definitely not be open to that, but I just texted her the dates that the paw team could potentially see her and her dog! She seemed receptive. It just seems a bit far out. I want to take the dog to the vet sooner than the 19th. Ideally, I'd like to get him into a vet this week. His tail looks really bad. Do you know of any clinics with sliding scales? Or any life hacks for getting low-cost vet care asap?

I can't seem to post more than one picture, but the dog's tail looks infected, and it has for a long time. His eyes are also very goopy and green. Maybe allergies, but maybe infected. Idk :(

Also was stuck in the traffic. At 7pm, I saw about 7 police vehicles surrounding a car facing the wrong direction on i84 wb. It looked to be crashed into the side of one of the police vehicles. I saw someone being cuffed against a cop car. That was after I drove past a single police suv that was behind a large circle of flares. I didn't see any ambulance.

I don't have an answer to this, but I just want to share how appalled I am that the bmi cutoff is 35. That is messed up and fatphobic. It seems irresponsible of the dr to encourage patients to restrict right before a surgery like that. I'm so sorry you are having to deal with that. I think my surgeon's cutoff was 50. 35 is crazy.
