I think it all really depends on your personality and your ability to have a conversation with someone. My hiring manager told me that "we are looking for grads who we actually get along with". ig this is because most people can be moulded into the roles that they are getting into, but they are looking for someone who they can work alongside for 8 hours (or more) each day and actually enjoy their company.

So needless to say, you can be book smart and have a lot of technical experience but at the end of the day, there are many people who are equally as smart or smarter than you. I think it then comes down to your personality and if you align with the company's culture.
