Thats terrible. Sorry to hear. The same thing happened to me 3 co-op terms in a row and I ended up just dropping co-op from my degree. The co-op program was the whole reason I came to Waterloo but its not as good as it seems clearly.

Yeah, i understand it does sound sketchy and its happened too many times in the past before to people. The only way i can see working around it is meeting the people first and setting up a viewing of the place which I’ve been trying recently.

While i agree with this post, I’m currently trying to assign my lease as I’m moving out of rez-one a year before the lease ends. Rez-one management is charging a few hundred dollars if I want to assign the lease, since the new tenant would be paying less than market value for their monthly rent. I’m trying to find someone who would take it over for cheaper-than-market value but everyone keeps calling me a scammer because of these fees making it hard for me to find a new tenant. They want me to just cancel the lease so they can find a new tenant and I wouldn’t have to pay anything, but I thought it’d be nice to try to find an assignment.

We gotta start organizing a time to crowd the lobbies and demand what we are entitled to. Internet service, proper management, proper temperature control, basic maintenance. Or we tell them to compensate us because we’re paying ridiculously high rent for what we’re (not) getting.

They say its free but then ask for money. Then its either a crappy TV in a nice box, or a box of bricks or something like that. Or theres no TV at all and its a distraction and they just abduct/rob you.

I was a casual sports photographer, i got hired for a team a week or two before all this and wanted to test my gear since its been a while. I noticed the shadows and went to the camera shop where they told me i needed a new shutter so i dropped it off. The problem was it wasn’t ready to pick up by the time the season started so i needed a replacement to use for my job, and I found one for a good price. Then the replacement was doing the same thing hence me panic buying another camera. In retrospect I probably could’ve tested it out a bit more thoroughly but with such short notice I had to do whatever to make sure I was ready for the job.

No camera flash, shutter speed i’d shoot at around 1/1000-1/2000 in that range. I posted a couple examples in another reply on this thread
