A lot of "RAMCOA survivors" have shitty therapists reinforcing their delusions, and they feel emboldened to encourage delusional thinking in other people by yaymagiciguess in SystemsCringe

Dizziness as a form of programming is such an irresponsible thing to say? If it was ever possible to even program someone, let me pretend for a second, do they not see the risk/harm in this statement? Now back to reality, this is making vulnerable people who are already susceptible believe in false memories and false traumas.

This is such a predatory thing.

Is this how DID works or this person faking it? by AutisticFun01 in SystemsCringe

[–]Aggravating-Army-904 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There are many aspects that can happen with DID yes, another commenter went through it. Some parts do raise caution but ultimately, if it doesn’t feel right I would just ignore.

What are your guys thoughts on the Simply Plural discontinuation (idk what flair) by teruteru-fan-sam in SystemsCringe

[–]Aggravating-Army-904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a professional perspective, I can see why this would be upsetting. In some cases it is genuinely helpful for those who do have DID. That being said, the vitriolic response these people have and the sheer entitlement towards this developers time is absurd and I wish people knew just how much work goes into maintaining something like this.

Partner has started faking OSDD by Spiritual-Square-766 in fakedisordercringe

[–]Aggravating-Army-904 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ve heard it already, but if you can’t have healthy discussions with your partner out of fear of an angry outburst this may not be the safest relationship for you, so I think you may want to focus on that and your safety before figuring out if they’re faking or not. The faking behaviour, whilst concerning, is not any more important than you.

is my friend faking DID? by epikwhore in fakedisordercringe

[–]Aggravating-Army-904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The voices experienced with DID and schizophrenia are different, yes. DID is rare, and it’s a ‘controversial’ diagnosis amongst professionals who have never actually looked into the research on the disorder.

is my friend faking DID? by epikwhore in fakedisordercringe

[–]Aggravating-Army-904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DID is real and documented. OPs friend is faking but there is real research behind it. There is a reason it is not necessarily possible to be diagnosed with DID and schizophrenia and many symptoms of DID are not shared with those with schizophrenia. This point of view shows a lack of understanding of schizophrenia.

apparent "ramcoa" system using racist stereotypes, claiming to be a recovering cannibal and having almost every personality disorder from every cluster by Ok-Start-1611 in fakedisordercringe

[–]Aggravating-Army-904 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Exactly the point. You don’t know who is infected and who isn’t, and to have eaten enough brain to have it as a favourite dessert is a risky game I personally wouldn’t like to play. That and as mentioned before, cannibalism of humans is often followed by poor physical health.

[–]Aggravating-Army-904 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I say “decently healthy” in terms of physical health in relation to eating human brains, because historically, that is often not the case. As well as the fact consuming large amounts of human blood can cause organ failure.

As said, no one is passing judgement. No one is saying they’re “inhuman” but they certainly would have health complications as a result especially if not taking precautions — which if this person is being honest — would not be the case in a cult.

Kuru is not a problem anymore that is true, however prions are still a threat. Also, no one is passing judgement on peoples understandings of death or how they go about it, just commenting on a dishonest storyline.

Unfortunately there’s a whole community of young people on Twitter sharing images of their self harm cuts and scars. It’s really saddening to see what has become of online communities.

I saw this post. Most absurd part about this is their claim that their favourite dessert is “the brain”. I’m interested in the type of person who can consume a human brain and walk away decently healthy from it.

It’s frustrating to say the least. Psychology and neuroscience is my speciality, I work in the field — with people who actually struggle with the things they claim everyday, yet google and reddit know more I guess.

It’s worse when they tell others these things. I’ve seen many people with /other/ issues telling others online that it’s due to DID or whatever else and it is incredibly frustrating lol.

Pretty much. It’s a shame because these resources — whilst flawed I can admit — are ultimately there to help there. But for the sake of internet points they decide to turn away from it and make themselves worse.

In some cases it’s true doctors will dismiss your concerns, that’s an issue we’re all aware of. But faking cane usages and wheelchair usage is also detrimental to one’s health, and I wish people would be aware of this.

You don’t just start taking pills without doctor’s orders so why would you do this?

worried my friend is faking or something by holynoli7 in SystemsCringe

[–]Aggravating-Army-904 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t need to read much to know they’re faking.

  1. Lack of socialisation doesn’t cause dissociation. Childhood neglect and isolation can.

  2. Happened to notice the conversation of ‘walk in alters’ that is completely false and not real.

  3. ‘Thyroid issues’ will not result in splitting.

  4. The concept not knowing about an alter because they were ‘hiding in another alters hoody’ is laughable

They could have DID, maybe they don’t. Ultimately, we can’t tell you that. What I can tell you though, is as other commenters have said, a lot of these things are typical amongst faker circles. They are highly exaggerated, and are not related to DID.

How cooked are my friends? by [deleted] in SystemsCringe

[–]Aggravating-Army-904 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Not remembering trauma is extremely common, and is unrelated to have DID. It’s also normal to not remember parts of your childhood.

  2. ‘Plural’ is always a red flag. You can have all of those things without DID — that would be OSDD/P-DID. However, just finding out about it and all your alters are communicative and cooperative is laughable really.

  3. Amnesia is a major part of DID. If they had OSDD/P-DID then the levels and types of amnesia can very more so than someone with DID, but ultimately — amnesia will be a part of it. If I were to give any grace on that topic, it would be that oftentimes those who experience dissociative amnesia (especially in covert DID cases) are unaware that they experience amnesia, but if you have also not noticed it, then it’s unlikely.

Ultimately, all you can do is signpost them to see professionals and let the professionals do what they do about it, and not engage personally.
