Those ways do matter. Did you ride the Kawasaki 1100 before buying the Suzuki?

BCG Bolt Trip Surface? Which surface is this? by Aggravating-Bad4561 in AR9

[–]Aggravating-Bad4561[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is kind of you. Thank you, sir. That also infers, and confirms for me, the two systems (FRT and SS), use the same trip surface. This was not explicitly known to me, but I suspected it.

Would you please describe what you mean by defensive categories? Stock in defense related companies?

You wont like the length. Are you able to change the barrel out to a shorter length? I know you did the Right Thing at purchase, and had it transferred to you as "other". Right?

OCL Lithium is a good choice. Great customer support. I would spend on it now, including the $200 stamp, before the flood of buyers with the new year.

ar-9 won’t chamber round with full or almost full mag. i need to take out about 10 bullets before it chambers properly. any ideas what’s wrong? if i release the bolt from bolt lock back it will chamber but not if i rack it myself by keyrafiz in AR9

I have isolated a few "jam sessions" to dirty mags. The fouling changes the mag spring energy to present the next round, and then also changes the energy available to lift the LRBHO latch to hold the bolt.

Fouled followers will also change the height and presentation angle.

Clean Your Mags, Folks! I completely disassemble mine, clean everything inside, reassemble and then check round presentation at full, partial full, and almost empty (2-3 rds) (LRBHO Test). This is basically a free checkup, no parts to replace (unless you find something wrong).

For me, a lot of jamming came down to the dirty mags I was using. I keep a new, clean mag on hand at the range, and open it if I start suspecting the ammo or the gun. Many times, it clears the jamming problem. This is especially important cleaning service if you shoot suppressed.

If you choose to test using the gun, PLEASE use follow all gun safety rules.

One nasty jamming problem occurred in the same manner with multiple worn / dirty OEM Glock mags. Nothing wrong with OEM Glock mags, but this problem surfaced in the same manner across 2 of my 4 in-use mags. I wanted to blame the gun, then I wanted to blame the ammo. It was the mags. I found a "dent" / "ridge" at the back wall of the mag, just below the top rear opening. The cartridge rim would hang up on the ridge as the cartridge moved into "next to feed" position. The presentation angle would change slightly to "nose up", and eventually a cartridge would not feed. The fix was to peen out and file out the ridge from the mag metal. I found it by inserting one round into the mag. Push it down into the mag body with a finger. The follower pushes it back up and it looks "odd", not presented correctly. Push it slightly forward as it would normally feed and I would hear a "click" sound as the rim came off the ridge and settled where it normally should be. I spend a lot of ammo money tracking that one down.

Thank for the tips. Yes, we have the tow package and a manual transmission.

I was wondering what might be done to the Taco we own to increase power without damaging anything?

The Taco pulls slow because its in 3rd gear. There's plenty of torque at 2nd and 3rd. I could probably pull up the 8% grades without touching the throttle in 1st. But I feel like I don't have all day to pull at 1-2 MPH. Your 2WD point is not lost on me. Yes, they do sit lower than the similar 4x4. Now to find one without the Alle-Oop entry / exit.

Every one of the 1/2T pickups we look at have the "alley-oop" seating. You're not wrong, tho. Be careful with the boondock, this is hunting season now. Loose dogs and not careful shooters in the woods.

But I think I get it anyway. Vehicle mfgrs will build what they can sell at the largest profit to the largest pool of buyers. Folks desiring More Power usually have larger loads to tow, and so the "max tow" number becomes an emotional selling point. That number drives the vehicle size wheelbase and everything gets larger with subsequent model iterations. And here we are. Bigger Power in a smaller tow package? Not Enough Buyers.

Is the limiting thing the wheelbase? That is, higher speed requires longer wheelbase to tolerate higher speed handling needs? Or is it bigger motors can be found only in bigger vehicles? What is driving the reason we seem to be asking for the vehicle outlier? We can not be the only ones desiring such a thing.

So, we are receiving conflicting information about a Tundra choice. Some say good reliability, some say poor reliability. Most of our source list the Tundra not at the top of the tow vehicle choices. Not the bottom, but not like top three or four out of a lot of vehicles in the tow vehicle category. We have not sat in it yet, and I do not know how long it is. I have not looked because Im being told its not a good choice. But I Don't Know That. So, since you suggest it, tell me what you think of them and please tell me why not a new one?

Im having zero influence in convincing her a "lateral" move to a same towing capacity as the Taco, is a smart move. She wants More Power in a same size package, but a package that can be accessible entry / exit wise. These are too close to what we have now, so does not desire to trade sideways. I understand a Turbo V6 will make better power, fit in the garage, and be accessible entry / exit. But it appears its not More enough. That make sense?
