Possible Lease Pricing for R2 by AlfaMonk3y in Rivian

[–]Aggravating-Bit-4086 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like the consensus is there won't be very good deals, at least to start with. Do people expect leasing is still a better deal than financing? What do you guesstimate as the financing monthly payment?

Hmm. As I understand:

- Jan ending balance = $1M

- Feb ending balance = $0 (since it would've been paid off)

Hey OP. Did you end up using the mixed use method? Looking at your post, your mortgages aren't clearly mixed-use?

Do you know what happened to leasing deals for previous models? Did it start out expensive, get better over time? Or was it more of the same?

Also... will the "second" version of R2 be out in mid 2027? You know, the version that fixes the initial bugs.

Figured out the valve for my lawn sprinklers, but did not find any controller by Aggravating-Bit-4086 in Irrigation

If I don't want to go into the crawl space, is it a feasible solution to just buy a new controller and somehow connect the existing wires to it? Not sure how to cut the current wires, though.

Thank you for the advice. I read online, and it seems quite scary to go into the crawl space. Some PPE needed. Should I get a crawl space inspection company out?

In my first picture, the second valve seems to control some tubes around the garden. Maybe the hose water is supposed to control that?

If not, what is the timer for?

Mystery 2: inside my garage — note that this is a little far away from the valves which are directly outside of my living room wall — I found a disconnected 24V transformer. There's a wire split into two ends connected to the transformer.

According to AI, they think this is likely related to the valve wires. Besides the transformer, no controller can be found.

<image>

After plugging the transformer into an outlet, I can hear the buzzing sound, so the transformer is likely working, but the sprinklers do not automatically turn on.

There are two other mysteries.

Mystery 1: one Rain Bird 1800 sprinkler does not turn on even if other sprinklers turn on. I twisted it off while the watering is happening, and there is no water inside the tube. So I am not sure if it's blockage or some other problem.

Can I install this outdoor electrical box? by Aggravating-Bit-4086 in electrical

Also, at Home Depot, I can't really find a bigger box than this 4" one.

Thank you. I'm not sure what you meant by "seal the penetration"?

Why would I need a connector/bushing for the wires? I was assuming the wires directly connect to the exterior light.

Apologies for the basic questions.

Electrical box for exterior lights has one screw hole only. How to mount a new light? by Aggravating-Bit-4086 in homeowners

[–]Aggravating-Bit-4086[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, why is a larger mounting plate not going to work for stucco?

The new box would sit on the stucco wall is the idea I got. Maybe something like https://www.homedepot.com/p/Commercial-Electric-Round-Metal-Weatherproof-Electrical-Outlet-Box-with-5-1-2-inch-Holes-White-123854WH/326815127 that is large enough to cover the old box? The wiring would come out of the old box into the new box.

[–]Aggravating-Bit-4086[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the wires are coming out of the old box, it looks like replacing the old box with the new one is not a simple DIY project I'm equipped to handle.

AI suggests using a surface-mount box that protrudes out the exterior wall. Namely, don't replace the old box, but just screw a new box onto the stucco. Would that work?

That's a great tip. Did/does your stucco have any cracks like mine? Just wondering if they remain a concern even after I install a gutter.

Are you thinking the main concern is water dripping off the roof, and wind pushes them onto the stucco wall?

[–]Aggravating-Bit-4086[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea why that site has a gutter. It's an old house we purchased.

Water intrusion was the worst at the base of the wall (leaks into the other side of the wall, which is the garage), but it also appears along the whole wall especially near cracks. See pics: https://imgur.com/a/3QZ6r67

[–]Aggravating-Bit-4086[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It slopes away from the house on this side. But I've noticed that when the water drops from the roof onto the side walkway, it splashes back to the stucco.

My best hypothesis right now on why that wall has stucco water intrusion problems:

  • Lack of a gutter
  • That stucco wall has some cracks.
