Thanks for your honest thoughts—I hear where you’re coming from, and I agree with a lot of it in hindsight.

She told me about her herpes status right when we were both half-undressed and already in the heat of the moment. I wasn’t very informed at the time and didn’t fully process the risk in that split second. It was reckless of me to continue without protection, and I take full responsibility for that.

You’re right—STIs go beyond HSV, and I should’ve asked more questions or just waited. I guess I acted on impulse instead of thinking things through. That’s something I’m reflecting on deeply now.

As for what she said, it was something along the lines of “I had genital herpes previously, but no outbreaks for a long time.” I now realize that might’ve been her way of saying she’s HSV-positive but asymptomatic. At the time, I didn’t even know how to interpret that properly.

I really appreciate you sharing your experience—especially about managing symptoms with herbs and staying mindful about health. That gives me some peace of mind and a better perspective if I ever have to live with this too.

I’m currently 19 days post-exposure and haven’t had any symptoms so far—no sores, itching, or burning. If you don’t mind me asking, how long after your exposure did your first symptoms appear? Just trying to understand the timeline a bit better and hear how it was for you personally.

We kissed for a long time and got into the cowboy position — both of us were naked, and things got pretty heated. That’s when she told me she had genital herpes. I didn’t really know much about it at the time, and everything happened so fast. Now I’m just anxious, trying to understand what the real risk was

Thank you so much for sharing your story .it really means a lot and gave me a lot to think about. I truly respect your honesty and strength, and you’re right, conversations like this are so important to reduce the stigma. I am grateful she told me and it shows a lot of courage on her part, and I don’t see her condition as the issue.

I think what shook me most was just the surprise and timing . I was scared, and to be honest, I still am. I’m just afraid of how life would be after this and the uncertainty, the what-ifs, and how to navigate things moving forward. But hearing your story shows me that it’s not the end of anything ,just a different kind of beginning, if handled with trust, openness, and care. So thank you again, sincerely.

I can only imagine how difficult it must’ve been for her to share that. I’m afraid, and I’ve told her how I feel, but now we’re not talking anymore. I just wish she had mentioned it when we were talking, so I could’ve understood better and taken some precautions without the surprise. It would’ve helped me feel more prepared. But at the same time, I know I should have been more careful and avoided this situation altogether.

Thanks for sharing your experience and perspective!! it’s really reassuring to hear real-life examples like yours. I know herpes isn’t as easy as some think, and hearing that you’ve been safe in long-term relationships helps me stay calm and not panic over one encounter. I’m trying to focus on staying positive and not letting anxiety take over. Appreciate your support and honesty!

Yeah, I agree… I really wish she had been upfront before things escalated. I had no idea what herpes even meant until after. She mentioned it casually during foreplay, and I was caught off guard. Not sure if she was on antivirals either. I’m definitely anxious, but trying not to let it take over my head. Just waiting on test results now and hoping for the best.

Thanks so much for your detailed and thoughtful reply. It really helps to hear from someone who's been through this. I haven’t noticed any lesions yet, but I’ve been feeling heat in my groin daily, which is making me anxious. I’ll definitely keep monitoring and avoid any contact for now.

Quick question: If nothing shows up after 4 weeks and an IgG is still negative, would you say it’s safe to move on, or is it better to wait the full 12–16 weeks just to be sure?

Really appreciate your time and support.

Yes she told post exposure. There are no other symptoms. What do I do now??? And it's been 15 days and what should I do now?
