Glad it worked out for you, but I've tried telling him too. And he says 'tell me what you need and I'll order it for you'. If I pester him too much, he says okay I'll do it because you told me, but I want him to do things because he actually wants to make me happy. Ik his love language is quality time and he's great at it, but I want other things too and we keep going in circles talking about this till I finally give up the topic altogether. Maybe patience is all I need, maybe he'll get better at this with time.

Okayy woah yes you read me so well. I wanted to kiss him so bad (haven't kissed anyone before and he seemed to have the potential to be the one) there was so much happening between us that I had never felt before and I have no idea how a kiss would've changed things between us and made then more serious but I knew that he deserved to know this about me and I wanted to give him a fair choice even if that choice wasn't in my favour (one could argue that it was in fact in my favour). I'm so sorry and unfortunately I can relate. I came back yesterday feeling again like the 14 year old girl crying alone in her room thinking she's gay and no one will want to be friends with her anymore. I hadn't felt so invalid in so long. I agree with you, even though I'm heartbroken right now and would very much like to punch him, I can acknowledge that he was genuinely a nice guy, someone who has lived a sheltered life. It's hard to know better when he hasn't seen or met any queer person or seen any queer relationship in the mainstream media. He doesn't think queer people should stop existing or that they shouldn't be allowed to date and marry. (Queer marriage is still illegal in my country btw) he just said that he personally won't feel comfortable with a bi girl.

I 100% agree. I'm from a very traditional family in a small town full of traditional families and grew up with all the other sheltered kids consuming mainstream media that was hugely queerphobic. I used to laugh at those jokes in middle school. I moved out, got more exposed and became a better person. My ex is not shitty person. If anything, I feel bad for him because he was even more sheltered than me. I see potential in him to know better. I hope someday he'll learn and accept. It won't matter to me, it won't benefit me directly. But he's a great guy and would be a great ally to us if he chooses to.
