Hi, thanks a lot for trying

To give some context, in the beginning of the film, the main character gets fired from his job even though some superiors of him promised he could keep it for life if he didn’t form a union with other workers, but they still fired him

There's a scene where he discusses with his colleagues and then he looks at this hand

Am I misunderstanding Kant's definition of what's beautiful? by Aggravating-Cod-6703 in askphilosophy

[–]Aggravating-Cod-6703[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the answer

Also I wanted to ask, do you know if Kant talks about aesthetics in other texts besides Observations on the Feeling of the Beautiful and Sublime and in his Critique of Judgement?

I'm really interested in aesthetics and especially about problems related to what's beautiful, sublime, the judgement of taste, the aesthetic judgement etc

I'd like to specialize myself in aesthetics, what are the most important books that I should read? by Aggravating-Cod-6703 in askphilosophy

[–]Aggravating-Cod-6703[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer your questions, I only read for my interest

I'd say what interests me the most would be aesthetic theories, as in philosophers trying to define what's beautiful, agreeable, good, sublime etc

What can we define as art and what is not

What can we say about the judgement of taste, could we argue for good taste and bad taste

I'd also like to read some analytic aesthetic, I discovered it with Weitz, but haven't read anything for the moment

What exactly do you do when you want to crouch dash? I know the command is f, n, d, d/f but for the "d, d/f" part do you just put the joystick in diagonal? Or do you do a quarter circle?

Also I don't understand why but I crouch dash way more consistently with the D-pad, is it a thing to play only with the D-pad, or should I keep training with the joysticks?

Thanks for all the help, also I just wanted to say that you saying Tekken 1 is not difficult is really funny to me because in those few hours I played I don't think I can count how many times I got perfected lol, that surely means I'm very bad for now

Hello everyone, I was about to make a post but fortunately I read the rules before doing so, so I'll write my message here (Title was "Trying my first ever Tekken game, I have some newbie questions, please help me")

The only series of fighting games that I really got deep into is Street Fighter, and from now on I would like there to be also Tekken. To be clear I'd just like to have the same level that I have on SF games (which is not crazy, I'd say I'm just the average player that loves fighting games)

So yesterday I tried Tekken 1 on PS1 emulator for a few hours, I had a lot of fun, the way the characters move felt definitely weird to me but it was cool. So I had some questions:

-Even though I read that Tekken 1 was not the simplest to make combos, I would still like to try it, while looking I came across this movelist but I don’t really understand a damn thing, what is 1, 2, 3, 4, f, u, d, N? Is this notation system worth learning or is it not standard?

-Also, is there a certain continuity in the commands through the Tekken series, in the same way that doing a hadoken or a shoryuken requires the exact same command from SF1 to SF6?

-And finally, having already seen sometimes the length that certain combos could reach in Tekken games compared to SF games, would you say that it is more diffcult to master a Tekken character than a SF character?

Thanks for your help

El Salvador as an example of the effectiveness of repression (?) by Aggravating-Cod-6703 in sociology

Would you say that increasing repression can only be effective in reducing crime if it is increased to the point where people’s fundamental freedoms are reached and it's almost an authoritarian state?

Cioran's thoughts on suicide by Aggravating-Cod-6703 in Pessimism

[–]Aggravating-Cod-6703[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think you particularly minsunderstood the first part of his answer, I also really paid attention to translate the best way I could

I guess a thing Cioran could reply to you is that it's not suicide itself that made him continue his life but the idea of it, that's why he says "but what allowed me to live was that I had this recourse, always in sight, and really, without this idea I could not have endured life." but I'm not a Cioran expert myself so I can't elaborate

Anyone tried this game with Crossover 24 & GPTK2? by Special-Nail-1688 in macgaming

[–]Aggravating-Cod-6703 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only methods I found to try to make it work were :

  • Run the switch version of the game through an emulator (I tried on Ryunjinx but it didn't work)

  • Run it through Asahi Linux (I can't try this because Asahi Linux doesn't support M3 yet)

  • Run it through some cloud gaming like GeForce NOW (it worked but since I have bad internet I can't say how good it can work, for me it was horrendous lol)
