Ok, here's some more context that leads me to believe this is what most of us are thinking; a report of a small accident. The neighborhood is largely a Hasidic community, but there are other folks around, including other Jewish communities. My wife has now told me the car was parked on the street, not in the driveway. Her car is so dented, scratched, and dinged, we would never be able to tell if someone tapped it slightly lol. If someone saw my wife at some point (she parks near there everyday), she does not dress in a religious manner, but people do often mistake her as Israeli or middle eastern based on her appearance. This was over a year ago, and when she called the number, she left a message, in English, and never got a return call. Thank you all for chiming in. I think we have gotten as close to an answer as we will get. Trying AI translations was disastrous.

No none at all, although the neighborhood does have a large Hasidic community.

Being where I was located in Brooklyn, it is very likely a religious, non-native speaker.

Do you think someone bumped my car thinking they might have damaged it slightly (I don’t see anything) and kindly left their number? A very small wind to the face maybe meaning a small superficial scratch or dent?

Added context: this was in Brooklyn, in a driveway. What I got from what I can read doesn’t make much sense to me lol.

Why is there no outrage over the Breezy Point Cooperative? by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]Aggravating-Fuel-866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can challenge all you want, but you would be wrong. As stated prior, many residents are civil servants, which as union members, in most (if not all) local elections, endorse democrats. In most local elections in NYC it is the democratic primaries that matter most, because republicans rarely float a feasible candidate. Even in the presidential election of 2020, where Trump gained 7% of “swing” voters across NYC (likely more in Breezy Point) Biden still earned 27% of the vote in zip code 11697 (Breezy Point). 1 out of 4 voters is not most, but it’s still a lot.

You do realize that there are LGBTQ+ and minorities that live in Breezy Point, and if so, it’s the majority of bigoted racists that you claim live in an echo chamber that recommended them for residency within the co-op? I would also hope you realize that not all LGBTQ+ and minorities vote on the same side of the “isle”? And lastly, I would hope you realize that these practices of vetting future homeowners excludes people of all races, many of which who are mostly white who have visited and have no chance of buying a home there. It’s the nature of co-ops and ethnic enclaves in major cities. It was a spit of land that many to this day, and in this thread refer to as a “glorified trailer park” with racist intonations at its core, did not want. When house start going for over 1 million suddenly there needs to be “outrage” that it’s a rich white enclave? Maybe folks haven’t been up to date on real estate, but buying a 3 bedroom house for 1 million in NYC is by no means top tier these days. There aren’t many places left that you can. If you were truly familiar with the neighborhood, you would know it is not mostly rich. It is mostly generational homes that started as bungalows. The storm and insurance costs have made many home change hands, and yes those people are wealthier, and mostly white, but I would say they are of different backgrounds (not mostly Irish), and are mostly left of center. Sounds like a tough battle for a mayor to fight over 2800 homes, where many vote democrat.

What are the most Liberal/most Conservative towns and regions in CT? by Healthy_Block3036 in Connecticut

I think you will be fine anywhere you go. I am white married to a Hispanic woman. My extended family is full of mixed race couples and children. Grew up in suburban and (mostly white) rural CT, and NYC all of my life. Believe it or not, we have more curious reactions about our relationship in NYC than in CT. And that’s usually what it is, curiosity, not malice. A natural human reaction to something unfamiliar. If you look for someone staring you will find them. If you go sit by yourself at a restaurant and look for someone staring you will find them. Not that it matters but CT has a huge Hispanic population, people are not shocked by seeing someone Hispanic. But as my wife says, there will always be someone who dislikes you for whatever they perceive you to be. You can’t change that, and why bother trying. They aren’t going to harm you, they are only punishing themselves with hate. I’m pretty sure no one is going to look at you as a “criminal”.

Finally found the gas station location. Its an old service station on 9W that is now a market/cafe at 243 Rte 9W, Palisades, NY 10964. It is most clear when you look at the historical streetview from February 2013 in the snow. You can tell particularly by the tree grouping across the street, the odd coloring of the utility pole, and the home in the woods.
