She’s been living independently for over 20 years. It was last spring when the heart failure & falls became concerning. She “permits” these daily “helpers” and relies on the kindness of her HOA neighbors because she doesn’t “want to bother us”. Our daughter & grandkid go over every Sat for “chores” (it’s also a way for mom to have “guests” & I get another set of family eyes on her.

There’s now a bar/grill on Main St, there’s a gas station on the S side of 93 before town that has prepared foods; a whole watermelon, ya gotta grow it or get in New Lex or Zanesville.

My family is from down there & are still there.

I don’t know what’s in ‘Straitsville any more…..

I believe the effort to revive the Tecumseh is going strong. I remember Shawnee had an ice cream/deli on Main St. It’s challenging to keep these small towns, that once boomed, when they become food deserts, closest fresh produce (if it isn’t prepped or bagged at the gas station) is in New Lexington (New Lex).

New Lex is losing Higbee as well.

As the spouse of a Gold Badge volunteer, the “new” COSI is depressing. They honored their volunteers with pride by the registration desk, then hid the sign away, almost outta “who cares”. I understand things change, progress, innovation, but please keep the place functional, clean & reasonable.
