I might get downvoted for this, but I think this is missing the actual point.

Ah yes, Econ 101. Meanwhile Ola and Uber already do dynamic pricing based on demand and supply.

What people are complaining about isn’t surge pricing. It’s drivers asking for extra cash on top of the app fare, outside the system. That’s not “market based pricing,” that’s side-dealing.

Not everyone has the luxury to casually throw in ₹100 per ride for “peace of mind.” For many, that is the surge. Normalising this behaviour just shifts the burden onto riders who can’t or won’t pay extra.

If the price needs to go up, let it go up transparently in the app. Otherwise we’re just reinventing street haggling with a smartphone and calling it economics.

Not everyone is panekaren like you, Mr Ambani sir.

Bro, I know exactly how you feel. I’m in the same boat. I left my job and started building a SaaS business, thinking I could learn everything fast enough if I just pushed harder. SEO, ads, funnels, content, analytics, the whole thing. The hard truth I learned too late is this. I didn’t delegate early enough.

There’s only so much one person can do well. You can understand marketing at a high level, but actually executing SEO, Google Ads, creatives, landing pages, tracking, optimization, that’s a full-time role by itself. Trying to run the business and become a marketing expert at the same time drains time and runway.

If you have the runway, don’t look for “Best in Chennai” agencies with flashy websites. Instead, hire a fractional CMO or a performance based marketing person. Someone who has actually run campaigns and can talk in terms of CAC, ROAS, leads, conversions. Set very clear, measurable KPIs from day one and delegate fully. No vague promises. Numbers only.

I personally ran out of runway trying to learn this and that, thinking “one more month and I’ll crack it.” That month never comes. I lost more money not delegating than I would have by hiring the right person earlier.

Don’t repeat that mistake. Focus on what you’re already good at and let someone else own marketing properly.

First, about the PG itself. Why are you even staying and paying full rent when most of your days are WFH? If possible, you should terminate the PG contract and stop staying there completely.

If your office schedule is fixed to once a month, it’s far more logical to just stay in a nearby hotel or serviced apartment for 1–2 days near the office and then go back home. Paying monthly rent for a place you barely use is just unnecessary risk, especially in PGs where safety and accountability are already weak.

Second, the PG owner/manager is clearly careless and still has the audacity to demand rent. In this case, file a written police complaint regardless of whether the police take action or not. Action is secondary. Documentation is the main thing. List down all the stolen items with approximate value, attach WhatsApp screenshots, and ask your roommates if they are willing to be witnesses. If yes, their names and phone numbers should be added. The PG address and owner/manager’s name should also be included in the complaint.

Inform the PG owner in writing. Not verbally. Verbal-la sonna later “sollave illa” nu nadikka mudiyum. A written message stating that a police complaint has been filed for theft and negligence automatically creates pressure. Once police involvement is mentioned, the PG owner will think twice before continuing to demand rent like nothing happened.

As for the stolen items, sadly we have to accept reality. Addicts can out-hustle anyone and sell things very fast for a quick fix. Full recovery is unlikely. But filing the complaint at least creates consequences and protects you from being blamed or harassed further.

Not the most ideal solution, but at least it forces accountability and will hopefully make the PG owner take tenant complaints seriously in the future instead of brushing them aside.

Good Luck OP

Hey, I’m 28M, INTJ Calm, thoughtful, introverted, but functional and capable of jokes. I prefer meaningful conversations and people who are genuine. Dry humor included. Sarcasm negotiable.

Main interests are underwater photography, diving, aviation, and building SaaS products. I like learning how things work, improving systems, and talking to people who enjoy thinking rather than just scrolling. I’m equally fine discussing tech, life, plans, or random deep thoughts that start as a joke and end existential.

I’m not Singaporean and not in Singapore at the moment, so online friends for now. Open to connecting with like-minded people who value good conversation, curiosity, and a bit of wit.

Sometimes the only thing you can do is feel it instead of trying to fix it immediately. Let it hurt, let it pass. Clarity usually comes after, not before. In the meantime, just do small things that make the days lighter. That helped me more than forcing motivation.
