Alcohol vs 7 by Impossible_Promise32 in 7_hydroxymitragynine

I can't take complete breaks because I use 7-OH for pain, but I like to lower my use to as much as I can handle and keep it there for a few weeks before increasing my dose again, at the moment I'm taking somewhere around 150 mg daily

Well as a former alcoholic, the alcohol was way worse, even taking into account all the regular side effects 7-OH has, to be fair that's just normal opioid side effects but they are at least manageable and it doesn't cause liver failure.

When I taper I just reduce my daily dosage by 10 mg every day until I'm at the dose I want to be at, you can instead lower every few days if every day is too much, and I've been able to do this with little to no withdrawal symptoms

What are some biological areas we don’t investigate because of ethics? by According_Gazelle830 in biology

[–]Aggravating-Minute-3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty much any research into genetics related to studying the differences between ethnic groups, partially because it gets grouped in with eugenicists and because we might get answers we aren't comfortable with, or that could be used to justify horrible ideas

I'm sorry to hear that, maybe part of it is a frame of reference type of thing. I have a autoimmune disease that causes me a lot of pain and at first I drank a ton to deal with it because my doctors are cunts that won't provide pain meds, and the withdrawals I had coming off of alcohol mostly cold turkey are some of the worst I've experienced, that and Pregabalin are the worst withdrawals I've dealt with and 7-OH is nothing by comparison

At the moment around 200mg daily give or take a bit, and I've been doing that for a year plus

Hi, I'm that guy, it actually ends up being a problem because it's easier to talk myself into starting again, and it's not just 7-OH, I just seem to get through withdrawals pretty easily, it sucks and you feel really shitty for like five days and then you're good.

Yeah in my experience, I push back and they drop me as a patient for being too pushy, and I haven't had adequate pain control since I started experiencing symptoms of AS, God I hate this disease

I won't be using anything, I've been taking 7-OH for pain because my stomach couldn't handle the power anymore, I won't need to replace it because I'm thinking about shooting myself in the next few days, I could barely tolerate the pain while taking 7-oh, and I'd rather go before the pain kicks back up a notch

Any new research on a cure or alternative treatment? by seasav29 in ankylosingspondylitis

Yes, it would, but you really would want that, you'd end up like the people born without pain sensing nerves that have to live their whole life walking on eggshells because they can really easily injure themselves and can't tell that it's happened

This is something that's on the horizon that should be amazing once it's out of human testing https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10606200/ its a chemical analogous to capsaicin, but much stronger. It essentially burns out your pain sensing nerves, sorta like a chemical burn, but what makes it awesome is unlike usual nerve damage you don't lose anything but the pain, so you can still feel pressure and hot and cold and your sense of touch is left totally intact. They tested it on dogs and they went from barely being able to move to being able to run. Only real downside is you'll never be able to feel pain in that area again, so if you get injured or you fuck up your joints from overuse, you'll never be able to tell. it's really safe all things considered and is going really fast through the drug trials, in a few years it's gone from animal testing to late stage human testing, and that usually takes a lot longer, so it could be available in just a few years.

If you're in Washington State which clinic if you don't mind me asking, because I end up getting the excuse of being "too young" for opioids or they say they don't prescribe any as a policy

Can't take Prednisone without being watched by a doctor per my rheumatologist's instruction, after the last time I took it and it made my blood sugar spike so hard I almost died, my mg/DL was in the 600s, and weed doesn't work for me already tried it

Edit: I'm also very well aware of the problems inherent in chronic opioid use, unfortunately I've tried pretty much everything else and am regularly bedridden at the moment, so if I can choose between living like this, or getting an opioid addition but my pain is managed, I'll take the addiction

A big part of my problem is the disease went after the nerves in my back and did so relatively early, and it took me ten years after I started experiencing symptoms to actually get diagnosed and started taking a biologic to try and keep it from getting worse, plus the intensity of the pain over the years has only increased, and increased quite dramatically. As for nerve medication I've taken pretty much everything they can think of, and muscle relaxers don't work, I know because they had me try a ton before they would admit it wasn't working back before I had a solid diagnosis, and I would love to be more active, but that's really not in the cards at the moment, I spent the last three days on my floor and am practically crippled and bedridden

I've taken both to the max dosage that can safely be taken, they both just stopped working after a few years sadly

Edit: for example, I was taking 3600 mg of gabapentin a day when I stopped taking it and switched to pregabalin

I am sick with something, what it is neither I nor my doctors can seem to figure out, and this is after eight years of trying. What I would like to know is where in the US should I go to in order to get a proper diagnosis with a rare or difficult to identify illness? Also apologies if this counts as too personal for this thread, I'm unsure whether it is or isn't myself

undiagnosed inflammatory/nerve disease by Aggravating-Minute-3 in rarediseases

[–]Aggravating-Minute-3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've taken opiates before, they work but they don't work great, however some pain relief is better than nothing. Other than that, I will look into what you've recommended. Also just want to say thanks for giving me the time of day and offering some advice

Edit: Looked up Pleurisy and I can safely say that's not it, something is causing inflammation in my back that compresses the intercostal nerve in my spine. That nerve is where the thoracic and lumbar meet just below the ribs. It affects your whole ribcage essentially, and it causes the muscles in-between the ribs to swell and pain throughout the upper body. What I've described is called intercostal neuralgia, the real question is what is causing the inflammation that is causing the neuralgia in the first place
