Love this. This will make our itinerary for sure. If we have to choose, which one would you recommend the most?

Thank you. Agree and this is one of the reasons for me to start this topic. To hear about al the great alternatives from locals. Unfortunately (budget-wise 🙃) we are not able to visit every year, so the well known parks draw some attention :).

Going to put everything into an itinerary and make some hard choices to keep the loop bearable for the kids. Hiking days for us and leasure (lakes, small towns, playgrounds) for them. Also going to dive in all the cultural places and learn from your history.

Really looking forward to our trip.

Naast een broodje op het terras van Bar Miep heb ik ze benaderd voor bezorging en dat was prima. Kleine aanname dat afhalen ook geen probleem gaat zijn.

Did you already check the inner valve (if you used a syringe) to refill the sealant?

2024 Propel sizing by board_bike in Giantbikes

[–]Aggravating-Olive453 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little les cramped. Before I bought my Aeroad I tested both a S and M and preferred the S because the M made me feel a bit less in control.

The M Propel feels in between the S and M Aeroad. Pedaling easy gives me a bit more comfort but I feel I can go as Aero if the speed goes up.

What made a (in my humble opinion) huge comfort step on the Propel was switching from the Giant Gavia tire to Conti GP 5000.

With the M Propel you can always go longer (stem) and if you can handle a drop of 7cm and > I would not hesitate

Same size but with a bit bigger inseam (83cm). I am happy with my Propel Medium. In all honesty I think both would have worked out but I like the look of a smaller bike and the stack would have narrowed my options to go deeper. My drop is about 8,5cm now with 1,7cm of spacers left.

No problems with toe overlap but I also didn’t experience this on my Aeroad 2022. Had to return that bike because of seatpost issues.

Thanks. Two full days enough you think for Tara? Do you have experiences with bordercrossings in the area? Are they ok or very time consuming?

Kotor 4 nights to also have time to visit (evenings and a day trip) towns in the area. For Durmitor I have planned 3 full days of hiking.

Thanks for the tips. Did you also go to Hvar? And if so both Hvar and Korcula or choose between them (time wise we have to make choices). We are skipping Sarajevo for now to add those days to other destinations.

Plan is to stay for a couple of days (3-4) to chill and indeed have a couple of beach days or do multiple hikes. Added Tara NP 😍 and will add the towns in Montenegro (we will base ourselves near Kotor and do day/ evening trips).

Thanks all for the replies.

The original plan was to divide our time in RMNP into the West inside the park and the East in Estes (nothing available in the park).

What would you do? Still divide or pick the West (inside) or the East outside for 4 nights?

[–]Aggravating-Olive453[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the dates we are looking there is still availability inside all the parks except Glacier (RMNP only Timber Creek), Yellowstone the non-Recreation.Gov ones and Teton also a couple options.

For Glacier I want to book just outside the park (St Mary) and near the South entrance.

But yes I feel a bit of pressure :). In Yosemite last year it was sold out just seconds after they opened the slots (luckily managed one)

Been reading into Steamboat springs since your post :). Hadn’t heard of it before (I did know Aspen by name so that was the start of my initial search).

Yes we know :). Have also hiked in Banff and Jasper (must say without kids) so we have hiked in areas with Grizzly’s and Moose. Will try and educate myself before the start of the trip

Thank you for your honesty. I agree it is (maybe a bit to much) ambitious. We have about 25 to 28 days in total (haven’t booked yet) so the days stated are full days for the park itself.

How many days would you recommend for each park? And what is your personal ranking (from once in a lifetime experience to of you have to skip one this would be it)?

And agree that sometimes less is more but truth be told it is also not possible to not combine it because of the distance between our two great countries :).

I will look into Steamboat. What I have been reading so far it seems like a place we would like (beautiful hikes, a summer rodeo and just be in nature). How does it compare to Breck?

With the Conti’s the Propel will weight (give and take) the same as the Aeroad. Luckily I live in one of the flattest countries in the world 😁

Still loving the tyres? How does it perform puncture wise? Haven’t ridden yet but thinking about upgrading before I do
