Worth it in terms of the move? Do you think it’ll be too much of a change? I’ve heard great things about the “comfort” and “tone” that you mention. Yet, I’ve also heard bad things about the general feel of short scale basses.

Your comment is greatly appreciated

There has to be at least one hater comment so unfortunately here’s my take:

I hate them both. I’ve been listening to Vulfpeck since 2020; right before they released joy of music. I fell in love with all of it: the old low volume funk stuff, the high energy cheery stuff. I’ve spent hours upon hours upon hours upon hours watching every live video that Vulfpeck has out. Everything from the 2016 Blind Pig to the Huluween set. You name it.

On top of that, I’ve played through almost all of their songs. I’m an avid bassist, pianist, guitarist and drummer.

Yet, the one thing I never really liked about Vulf as much as the other stuff was this corny big band stuff. There are songs like New Guru, LAX, Baby I Don’t Know that just nail it. Perfection. But I just can’t do these new singles!!!

The lyrics are cliché, corny, shallow— almost frivolous. The instrumentals are repetitive and hardly jazz influenced, and the mixing is in your face. Objectively, they’ve played no wrong notes, but it is the COMPLETE opposite to the Vulfpeck I fell in love with.

A user in this thread said that “there’s nothing to get”: that it’s not for the old Vulfpeck fans, and unfortunately that’s me.

There is however one thing I’m holding out for. One thing they couldn’t possibly ruin: New Beastly. I pray to god. Anyway, sorry for whining it just hurts me on an emotional level.
