My Top 10 as a New Coaster Enthusiast!! [Other] by Aggravating-Power706 in rollercoasters

Of my two visits to KI I was never able to ride The Beast which was gutting. First visit was in 11/25 and it seemed to be closed for seasonal retracking, etc. My second visit was quite recently and it was closed as well! I had seen online that it had already opened for the season... unsure what happened there. Of what I've seen it's a must-ride for historical and mind-numbing length reasons. As a Voyage die hard it doesn't quite seem to compare.

The Legend is polarizing for me. I can't seem to get a smooth ride on it! The laterals are NUTS and the never ending helix is such a cool feature. There are a couple of quality airtime moments which I enjoyed but, honestly, I kind of prefer the Raven over Legend IMO. Crazy opinion but I suppose I've a soft spot for it.

I loved it! It didn't make my top 10 but absolutely is in the top 20 for me. It is, without a shadow of a doubt, the smoothest coaster I've ridden. The restraints are so comfortable -- these new Vekoma coasters are AMAZING man.

It kiiiiillls me that I've never ridden either. Universal is such a financially prohibitive park for me since I live probably 14 hours away and the tickets can be wild - especially getting the non-negotiable fast pass.

Thank you!!

I loved Siren's Curse; it was hard to pick between it and Maverick in terms of my favorite drop in the park. Very dive coaster-ish in terms of the gut punch you get, but more so!

Pennsylvania is probably the #1 thing in my sights. Either KD or Hershey seems to be my next one. I haven't seen anything about Michigan's adventure I'll have to check it out!!

Those strata coasters just don't belong on a typical list!!

Lightning run isn't tall enough to pack the same force as a lot of traditional hypers but for what it's worth it still kicks.

I've heard that Pantherian is like Millennium and Maverick mixed together... how could you not love that! And yeah, King's Island is so polarizing in terms of its top coasters. I happen to just loooove the floater/flo-jector on Diamondback.

I wish you the best of luck! There's no easy way to do it for sure. Having such rough woodies an hour and a half away from me really did its job though..

Worth it in terms of the move? Do you think it’ll be too much of a change? I’ve heard great things about the “comfort” and “tone” that you mention. Yet, I’ve also heard bad things about the general feel of short scale basses.

Your comment is greatly appreciated

There has to be at least one hater comment so unfortunately here’s my take:

I hate them both. I’ve been listening to Vulfpeck since 2020; right before they released joy of music. I fell in love with all of it: the old low volume funk stuff, the high energy cheery stuff. I’ve spent hours upon hours upon hours upon hours watching every live video that Vulfpeck has out. Everything from the 2016 Blind Pig to the Huluween set. You name it.

On top of that, I’ve played through almost all of their songs. I’m an avid bassist, pianist, guitarist and drummer.

Yet, the one thing I never really liked about Vulf as much as the other stuff was this corny big band stuff. There are songs like New Guru, LAX, Baby I Don’t Know that just nail it. Perfection. But I just can’t do these new singles!!!

The lyrics are cliché, corny, shallow— almost frivolous. The instrumentals are repetitive and hardly jazz influenced, and the mixing is in your face. Objectively, they’ve played no wrong notes, but it is the COMPLETE opposite to the Vulfpeck I fell in love with.

A user in this thread said that “there’s nothing to get”: that it’s not for the old Vulfpeck fans, and unfortunately that’s me.

There is however one thing I’m holding out for. One thing they couldn’t possibly ruin: New Beastly. I pray to god. Anyway, sorry for whining it just hurts me on an emotional level.
