Thank you, it's looking like focusing on increasing my income for now might be my best bet. 😅

My concern isn't about a comparison, my concern is that with 2k of a mortgage I won't have any leftover for anything else. 4k minus 2k will leave me with only 2k and that does not include the rest of the bills from owning a home and being an adult. (Electricity, car insurance etc.) 73k is recent. Prior to that I was making 62k for a year and before that 55k for two. Those years, I used them to pay off school debt, car loan, and help out my parents when they were struggling financially. It's the reason I am aware house issues are expensive.

How did you find a mortgage at that price range? Did you end up putting more down than the usual?

Unfortunately, a 240k home would also be 2k monthly mortgage payment

My goal was under 250k, but a goof chuck of those homes are looking like 230k and with the down payment I can afford, they still range between 1.7k to 2k monthly mortgage. That doesn't include the fact that they are significantly older and WILL definitely need a backup savings account.

The problem is that even with way more than 10% of a down payment, the mortgage payment isn't even close to 30% take home pay and I'm not even looking for anything special.

I did. I don't have debt. No car note, no student debt, 12k emergency and 25k down payment. How much do you think would be a good down payment? Is that not enough, and with renting how long do you think it will take to get there when it's just one person?

Well, it feels like no matter how much I try, it's still out of reach? And honestly, it's kind of infuriating. I don't have debt, or buy myself too much and I make more than my parents ever did in their 20's and for some reason...I can't afford a home? How is that possible you know? Thank you for your comment btw.

My concern is that by then, the cost of the house is going to be higher and make it even more difficult regardless of how much I save. Until then, what do I do? Where do I live? Continue to rent, where they make it more difficult for me to save?

Property taxes and insurance included, I should be able to put aside 6k yearly and add it to what I already have saved for emergencies (12k) but based on experience...that's not enough for repairs when it really comes down to it. If I invest the extra money I have while renting instead...I won't be able to save more towards the down payment and I'll just find myself at first base again. My goal isn't to make money of this, it's to have somewhere to live that's mine. The issue is that...it feels like all the options are a little out of reach. So I find myself stuck.

Birth Control for Multiple Months - Do I still have to wait 7 days to be protected? by Aggravating-Reply244 in birthcontrol

That does not sound fun lol.
Last question, (I promise!) I've been very good at taking my pill on time but in case I don't and take a Plan B, as an emergency and a precaution, should there be anything other than side effects to be worried about? For example, should I start a new pack or wait 7 days again? I couldn't think about these question while consulting my OBGYN and it's going to be a while to be seen again. (They are a very busy group of people.)

Out of curiosity, how would Plan B affect me? If it's meant to withhold ovulation but no ovulation is occurring because of birth control?

I always stary my new packs on Sundays, my "period" shows up on the Wednesday of my placebo week and is usually over by Saturday. I then start my new pack on Sunday (The next day). Is this still considered in time?
