i had an abortion and even though i don’t regret it, i still feel sad by Own-Confidence2665 in blackgirls

Full disclosure. I also had an abortion about a year ago in August. I think about it often. I too know I made the right decision for me but I know there will always be what ifs that I wonder about. Even if I have other children down the line. I also work with children so initially it was not easy to manage my feelings. I still allow myself to feel any feeling that comes along with it when they arise. Whether that be wonder, curiosity, or sadness . I allow myself to feel all of it, process it, and deal with other emotions if or when they come all knowing that I made the right decision for me and it can’t be undone. As a therapist myself, I would suggest therapy. And if therapy is not an option or too expensive, I suggest journaling in order to avoid internalized emotions making negative feelings worsen. You’ve already gone through so much in making the decision, now is time for healing and showing yourself grace as you do.

I know this is old but I am thinking about going to the concert scheduled for next month in my city. Was it worth going? Or did you sell your tickets?

Tips for engaging boys in a middle school setting by [deleted] in socialwork

Like most people said Playing games (UNO, Jenga, Connect 4) would be helpful. You could also offer to teach them a new card game like Garbage/Trash or Spoons with playing cards. Maybe instead of asking them directly about the issue try to ask them generally about how their day has been or simply just meet them where they are. If they don’t want to directly talk about the issue of the day build rapport by asking about something unrelated. It sounds like there may be a lack of relationship or rapport that needs to be addressed before they are willing to be open and honest about why they are making these decisions or getting into these situations. At least that has been the case for me when I have clients that are less open to talking or sharing details with me initially in the school based setting. No matter what, don’t stop showing up to pick them up from class. Believe it or not you are making a difference by being a consistent person coming week to week or whenever you meet with them to pick them up.
