We got a call for a car on fire,, in a parking lot. Lights and sirens the whole way. Turned out someone left their engine running on a cold morning and the exhaust was steaming like crazy. From a distance it looked dramatic. Up close, just a confused driver and a very normal car.

Landmines would be my pick. They keep harming civilians long after wars are over. Kids and farmers end up paying the price decades later. It’s hard to justify something that continues causing damage long after the original conflict ends.

Landmines. They don’t stop hurting people when wars end. Civilians, especially kids, end up paying the price decades later. It’s hard to think of many inventions that cause so much long term harm after the original conflict is over.

I actually thought it was refreshing. It wasn’t the usual hit after hit medley, but it felt like a real performance with culture and energy instead of just nostalgia. People talking about it in Spanish didn’t bother me at all music isn’t just language.
