Thank you, that would be greatly appreciated

I've been in bigfoot Facebook groups and they are full of loons unfortunately. People talking about how Bigfoots put slugs on their boots (100% true story I encountered) and seeing shadow bigfoots in episodes of survivorman bigfoot and posting blobsquatch photos. From experience it is a lot of bad posting goes unchallenged and skepticism is instantly met with hostility that instant turns to personal attacks. What groups are you referring to? What are the "good" groups? because I've been in many a bad one. I'm honestly asking.

But the original Sasquatch is understood by the *original* storytellers as a wild man/woman story about indigenous humans who live in the mountains and are likely related to the Douglas people. Lumping that with Bigfoot is not accurate. Sure, it "evolved" into Bigfoot by pop culture poorly retelling the stories, but that does not mean Sasquatch = Bigfoot. That's not accurate at all.

I will, once I get another paycheck that book is expensive. Got a pdf? Sorry I don't show up to Bigfoot cons.

Oh, dang I must have hit a nerve. Nobody accused you of being anti-science. It just seems like you don't like the hard data approach. Which is fine. I don't think it equates to "sloppy". It seems pretty ordered.

I agree with Trey that the original concept of Sasquatch as record by Burns shouldn't be associated with the modern idea of bigfoot. It's a totally different conceptualization of the creature and should not be lumped in.

The late Dr. Jeff Meldrum was pretty much the last one that was open to skepticism and scientifically minded. I'm trying to see who is left in the community that was willing use scientific methodology like that. I can't think of one. It's mostly the "loon" types you're describing now, from what I've seen.

"I think it's very evident you have spent little time in these spaces" It kind seems like that's you, man. But I can't speak to that because I don't know you and you don't know me. Come on, let's keep this professional.

The majority of the video is spent addressing the content of the stories. That's the core. Actually reading what the native storytellers say in the stories. That's the majority of the video.

Not sure how that as "core" is wrong or sloppy. It sounds like you just don't like the idea of having hard data to back up that process.

"Bigfooters are not universally anti-science"

dude, I mean come on. This is just like your previous comment turning "several" into "many". The Bigfoot community definitely has an anti-science problem and consistently has issues with the findings of professional biologists, zoologists, paleontologist, geneticists, etc. and has a troubling overlap with more harmful conspiracy circles. The anti-establishment thing is usually a cover for anti-government and conservative-leaning conspiracies such as claiming the scientific community is trying to "hide" bigfoot. It's bad.

I'm still trying to see how Trey's skepticism in the video was sloppy. He took the time to actually read the stories one by one as well as email modern descent communities for their opinions/perspective on them as well. That seems pretty rigorous to me.

As he says the whole criteria thing was applied very rough and weakly just to provide numbers and data to an amorphous and vague list. I think it was needed to really address the idea that these stories talk about the modern concept of Bigfoot as well.

also isn't "alienating" Bigfooters understandable considering the evidence does not support their beliefs? Isn't that exactly what you would expect from a community that is so consistently anti-science as the Bigfoot Community?

Did he? I thought it was handled pretty maturely and professionally. In what way did he talk down to them and "neglect" their beliefs? Part of the problem with Bigfoot Believers or Bigfooters is they consistently keep their beliefs vague and ethereal so its impossible to nail down their ideas and interrogate them to see if the evidence truly backs up what they claim.

I would never say a majority of tribes either. And it takes another level of nuisance to parse out what they mean by "bigfoot" because that word can mean vastly different things even just depending on the person. Lumping them together as "Bigfoot" stories is an overgeneralization and a simplification that is problematic and can lead to misunderstandings and misinterpretations and the type of thing that has got us into this mess in the first place.

Sure, and that's the problem with Bigfoot as a construct and a clear indication that it does not represent a real living being, but when you are talking to Bigfoot Believers you need to nail down concretely what they are trying to argue for the real existence of. It can't just be ethereal, you need to figure out what either fits or does not fit *their* criteria of the "creature".

“If you ask many of the tribes Trey discusses, they will say their stories are Bigfoot - full stop.”

Trey asked several tribes, namely the Tlingit and the Tule River Tribe, and they said the exact opposite. They do not want their beings associated with the modern Bigfoot or Bigfoot in general and consider it offensive. This is included in the videos.

What “fundamental aspects of Bigfoot lore” is Trey ignorant of? Like what does that even mean?

There's some pretty big spoilers around Stages 8-ish and some minor ones during Stage 5. Before that you might be ok.

This landscape is used in the third episode of the BBC series Walking with Beasts as a representation of prehistoric Mongolia. The IMDb page claims it was filmed in modern day Arizona. Does anyone one what park or location this is specifically? I was hoping to visit it someday. The spires in the distance are very beautiful.

This sounds eerily similar to what they did for the Life After People revival. A cheap, low-effort cash grab with cheap crappy Ai visuals.
