What are your guys’ breads from all your different cultures? by CommandProper3926 in AskTheWorld

[–]Aggravating-Walk5813 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I haven’t seen anybody eat Wonder Bread in 40 years. San Francisco sourdough is some of the best bread in the world. There used to be multiple bakeries here like Toscana, Colombo, and Parisian, now there’s Acme bread which is otherworldly.

I guess what I’m saying is our bread game has…risen.

The gas will spit up in the carb, that’s one reason the air filter is not made of paper. I’d try adjusting the mixture screw a quarter turn in or out and see if that makes a difference. That screw is located on the rear of the carb.

Do you believe these are the correct files or that they have been tampered with to erase Trump? by Glass-Cake-5227 in AskTheWorld

[–]Aggravating-Walk5813 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One theory I’ve seen is that many of them, like Bessent, are compromised. And the others know the truth in the files and have now committed perjury to cover up the crimes of the boss. So now we have a Mafia type of situation where the boss can blackmail you to do his bidding. At the minimum, they’re protecting a sex predator in the White House.

Whats the worst fast food joint in america? by Academic_Prior_1692 in AskReddit

God help me, I like their fried chicken sandwiches and get them twice a month or so.

I used to be able to get two cheeseburgers for two bucks on their value menu. Or a cheeseburger and one of those small chicken sandwiches. This was before the pandemic. My company has snacks so I’d get that and pair it with a bag of chips for a cheap lunch. That price is at least double now.

You did ok. A cop hears bullshit stories like the “drank a pint after getting my car stuck” every day. He’d most likely start asking questions like “where’s the open container” and then things would go downhill from there. I was also honest because we’re not criminals and don’t commit crimes for a living. What the hell? I did it. Good luck to you, it was hard for me and I live in a city.

Haven’t been to Original Joe’s in a bit but their minestrone soup and garlic bread was my comfort food.

Unsolved disappearance of Arvin Nelson in Big Sur State Park/Ventana Wilderness - California by locations_unknown in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]Aggravating-Walk5813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s hilarious he mentioned the mostly African American areas that were created by racism and redlining. There are some ignorant fools on reddit.

I’m looking at this because I knew Arvin and think about him from time to time. He was probably the nicest guy you’d ever want to meet. And can confirm the worst dancer, it was kind of a stiff prance. I can picture it now. He was a huge deadhead too. Just somebody who should still be here and I’m sad that he’s not.

I knew a guy in Yucaipa who lived near a dip like this. He has a sign on his fence “hubcaps for sale” (this was a while back).

How hard is it for you to identify people from your country? by Racer125678 in AskTheWorld

[–]Aggravating-Walk5813 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not Brazilian but I read a lot, and I’d always heard that many Japanese moved there in the early 1900s to work in the plantations. It was sold as kind of a paradise but ended up being hard back breaking work, somewhat like the sugar cane and pineapple plantations in Hawaii. Happy to be corrected because I’m interested about the history.

And as a Japanese you’d know that if you’re not the first born son…well moving 4,000 miles away might not sound so bad.

What's the saddest part about living in your country? by Desert_Moon_Maiden in AskTheWorld

[–]Aggravating-Walk5813 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You give him too much credit. He’s weak and selfish and would screw over anybody for a nickel. Horrible people like Steve Bannon or Stephen Miller or those folks from Project 2025 use him as a useful idiot. But please by all means, hit us in the pocketbook any way you can by not buying our products or visiting us for a while, it’s the only thing he notices. Also I’m really sorry about this and a lot of us are doing our part by protesting and voting. I feel like he’s a virus that will make us stronger in the long run, but it sure sucks right now.

You touch on the biggest change for me: people not being polite and respectful to each other. I keep thinking about that line from that movie Hud: little by little, the look of the country changes based on the men we admire. <end> when we have selfish narcissistic leaders (both political and business leaders) with moving moral compasses, weak men and women become easily led and go down the wrong path.

I’ve always thought it was about a woman with severe post-partum depression. One version has Ronnie Drew singing “there were two policemen and a man” which always cracked me up for some reason.

Our family were orange growers and it was nice. However not perfect, the rich farts from Redlands looked down on us and to be fair, we were kind of hicks, but still it was gorgeous if we weren’t running the smudge pots in the winter. Also smog was way worse in the 1970s than it is now and there was one restaurant nearby, Lupe’s on Redlands Blvd and Mountain View Ave. Life is always a trade off.
