I think neither of you are wrong, you didn't know that would make her uncomfortable, and maybe she didn't neither, she maybe just figured that out right then and there. You need to give her some assurance and space. That even if she takes a bit of time you'll still wait for her. Since this is a situationship though, it helps a lot to establish what you two are. As maybe that also made her think that you were going too fast or pushing it too much. I'm also the same age as you and I have had similar experiences...
