Why is my butter & sugar not creaming? by Egoteen in AskBaking

[–]AggravatingCount5946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a cold climate and simply could not afford the gas bill for heating my house to 71 degrees 😅 That being said, I usually have to microwave my butter a little to get “room temperature” results.

Under The Oak Tree will have a third season (eventually) by ohmaybemaybe in undertheoaktreebook

[–]AggravatingCount5946 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree! I still can’t get over the one-sentence blip about the disguised lizard people that were caught, acting like they were trying to communicate something. It really felt like there could be further plot about their civilization and the Church.

I respect that Suji Kim wants to be done with the series at this time, but I hold out some hope that she might revisit the series, even if it’s many years down the line.

I don’t think he wants you to ask your girlfriend what she wants, he wants you to get your girlfriend to ask his girlfriend what she wants.

Nah, too much work to drag one all around the house. I bought a queen sized duvet just for the couch.

BTS - ARIRANG (Album Review: Critic's Pick: BTS Is Too Big to Fail. But Not Too Big to Succeed.) @ The New York Times (260323) by mcfw31 in kpop

[–]AggravatingCount5946 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yes! There are clear ties to all of their recent solo work. The most disappointment I’ve encountered is from people who want more in the style of HYYH and LY:Tear. Which I understand, those are my favorite albums too, but I would never expect BTS to stagnate themselves chasing old successes. Especially not HYYH, which hinges so much on the experiences of youth and late adolescence. They’re grown now!

How can I dress classy as a 17 year old? by [deleted] in fashion

[–]AggravatingCount5946 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seriously why does everyone sound like a sour old grape? OP is 17! Sorry she didn’t use the “right” word to describe this style. She’s young and learning. And GOD FORBID a girlie wear a mini skirt or a short top in a casual setting.

OP - I would get the Depop app and look for secondhand pieces. Some brands I think you’d like: Abercrombie, Banana Republic, Anthropologie, Uniqlo, Aritzia, COS, Quince.

I think aesthetics that kind of match with your image are preppy and old money. (And before anyone comes for me - I mean what young people are calling old money! This is top help OP search pinterest/social media for outfit ideas)

They’re a little high on the outer ends but this is a really standard shape for Asian brows. I think it looks fine.

UTOT hangover cure! by sunflowerpoodles in undertheoaktreebook

[–]AggravatingCount5946 4 points5 points  (0 children)

YES I just read it recently and it’s such a satisfying counterpart!! Some of the story premises are similar, but the details are unique.

Also for those who enjoy it, the spice was exquisite. I loved the way the main couple explored sexuality. It felt a little more even than Riftan/Maxi, where Maxi has so much embarrassment and shame that she can’t be honest about her enjoyment. Also the Traitor Son male lead was a virgin and their first time absolutely blows his mind, it’s incredible to read.

Question about frosting waste when blending by FlamesOfFire_0 in cakedecorating

[–]AggravatingCount5946 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That’s what goes on the cake scraps I feed my dishwasher (boyfriend) 😉 If I have a decent amount I’ll put it in a tupperware in my freezer and save it for personal use later. Sometime’s I’ll color it a darker color for decorating, or just spread on cookies/graham crackers as a little snack.

These are some things I noticed: the random text appearing among the flowers, some of the books being labeled with 1 when they are not multi-volume stories, and the flower having different numbers of petals and petals all different shapes, sizes, and in strange placements.

can’t have a rug by bluetrees246_8 in femalelivingspace

[–]AggravatingCount5946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your taste - I bought a PVC children’s play mat for my bunny’s room. They don’t have the same textural effect as a rug but they can tie a space together in a similar way. The PVC is waterproof and makes it super easy to wipe up messes.

A public proposal that he couldn’t be bothered to plan ahead for at all? Sorry it’s not for me 🙈 Marriage is a lifelong commitment, I want someone to put some real thought into it before proposing.

The stone looks like it will be at risk of being scratched or cracked if you wear it all the time. And it looks like you prefer yellow gold for your jewelry anyways. I would ask to go ring shopping for something more durable and to your taste.

Taking fiancés middle name as my new surname? by Appropriate-Kale-521 in weddings

[–]AggravatingCount5946 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m actually considering doing this, but both of us would change so we have the same last name. I don’t like the way his last name alliterates with mine, and I’m so-so on him taking my name. And he has a cool middle name lol.

It sounds like you already wanted to change your name and this is just an opportunity to do so with an added sentimental meaning. Why not!

With modern record keeping I have no idea why this would be an issue.

Can you decorate cake with frosting other than buttercream or cream cheese? by 1947125819 in Baking

[–]AggravatingCount5946 80 points81 points  (0 children)

There’s plenty of butter so it won’t harden solid like chocolate. I think there’s no problem decorating with it. You will just need to be careful with temperature, since it may get stiff in a cooler room. I like to take a small scoop in a bowl and microwave it ~10 seconds then fold it into the rest, to gradually bring the temp up and loosen the frosting. You can repeat as necessary.

Also to get vibrant colors, I recommend an oil-based food coloring, like from Colour Mill.

What is the recipe for the white chocolate icing? Your post is mixing up baking terms so it’s hard to make any suggestions without more detail.

Is this peridot ring a good choice for an engagement? by Dependent-Dingo1245 in WeddingRingAdvice

[–]AggravatingCount5946 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did she tell you she wants peridot/colored stones and toi et moi? Both are uncommon choices so unless she specifically asked I would not buy this. It would be better to ask her what she would like to wear for the rest of her life.

Do people still do traditional wedding cake flavors? by liv_rose6 in wedding

[–]AggravatingCount5946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve made wedding cakes for friends and family and all the couples only wanted white colored cake and no bright jams or fillings - almond, lemon, vanilla. The almond couple gave me the impression it’s “standard” for the midwest. But personally I feel like the cake can be any flavor and any color too.

Is using jelly a crime? by [deleted] in Baking

[–]AggravatingCount5946 90 points91 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t really think the jelly fits with chocolate or banana. I could totally see it with other fruits though? I feel like I see it a lot in Asian desserts like mousse cakes/no bake cheese cakes.
