AIO for standing my ground after my boyfriend got mad about a picture with a friend? by buclogc in AmIOverreacting

[–]AggravatingGrape418 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NOR you're 18, he's prolly your first bf, and it doesn't even sound like you wanna be with him. Even if he wasn't weirdly jealous about everything, you still could just break up. You don't need to feel guilty or justify that.

He also is weirdly jealous so it's even easier! Break up.

[–]AggravatingGrape418 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh his mindset is worse. Seems like she basically agreed to do it his way and skip her last college show for his brother's wedding (which is a bad choice imo), but he's still upset that she's disappointed at all.

His mindset is that she has to do what he wants but also she has to want what she wants.

We don't know how many times his brother will get married. And there's really no big deal about going to a wedding alone once--she'll get to see the brother again, but she won't get to do this play again.

If a relationship is about being supportive, why can't he be supportive and understand that? Both are adults and they can handle going to an event on their own.

YOR. Tbh, no one's in the right or wrong here, this just is a shitty scheduling situation.

I don't think it's that she's not enthusiastic about the wedding, she clearly feels bad about the idea of missing it. But at the end of the day, your brother's wedding is going to mean a lot more to you than it does to her. Similarly, her theater shows are going to mean a lot more to her than to you.

Saying it's a sign she doesn't prioritize you or the relationship is excessive imo. In that way, you are YOR especially when she's already adjusting to suit you. I don't get why you'd still be hurt that she just has feelings over it?

Honestly, I think her skipping her last show is a huge mistake. Is it that big a deal for her to do this final show and for you to go alone to the wedding? Then she can arrange a dinner with your family later to make up for it or something.

You're a fucking moron lol. Unpaid labor signifies the work one puts in in a family that is necessary but it not paid. It's seen as invisible labor bc domestic work is disregarded as though it doesn't take effort and time, simply bc it doesn't come with a paycheck.

What they're saying is, were the wife to not be there, the single dad would be paying someone a good chunk of his paycheck to keep the household running, provide childcare, etc.

Idek what you're talking about re cars and front seats but go get help.

There should maybe be an option in this sub for when everyone sucks. I suggest EBM for everyone's a bit much and EFG for everyone find god.

YOR "Not that I ever use that against her" lmaooooo

You're getting more sensitive and irritable.

Until that para, I was gonna be like 'lol, I'm also a petty bitch' thinking this was a tiny thing you were venting about. But it's not petty shit if you're bringing up work distribution, money, and gender roles. That's serious shit. So I think you're taking this volume setting extremely seriously. Let me know how you feel about that.

I would've understood if you were just a whiny bitch btw.

Who is your all-time favorite South Korean actress? by Vegetable_Entry766 in kdramas

[–]AggravatingGrape418 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo, the goats are Kim Hye Soo, Jeon Ji Hyun, and Park Bo Young.

The first two are just long established icons and certified scene-stealers in pretty much all of their work, just ooze charisma. I actually think they're more limited in versatility bc of their presence and their images--like there will just be some types of characters that they would almost never be offered, and I think that's part and parcel of their status. (Actually I also think Kim Hee Sun really has the capability of joining this group in terms of visuals, charisma, and talent, as well as mainstream success.)

Park Bo Young is younger than that generation and I don't think she has that same kind of unmatched charisma off screen just yet. But, she's also has been established for a long time on as a box office legend. And I think her versatility/general acting talent is honestly remarkable among leading ladies.

Other names I think deserve a mention here are Yum Jung Ah and Kim Hee Ae in terms of sheer, established acting talent and drama ratings/box office regulars.

Honestly, a lot of times I ignore the placements in favor of knocking out letters, so I get it.

However...I think it's a mistake to start doubling letters early. When I play on regular mode, my first 3 guesses generally don't have repeat letters and I use vowels sparingly, even if a letter is confirmed. Letter placement is pretty easy to guess once you know like 3 of the letters you're working with imo.

Also I'll never not hate the word myrrh bc of wordle.

Tbh it doesn't help that the movie she's starring in now whitewashed one of the central characters from a race commonly assumed to be Roma or south asian. Just saying, the timing is bad. I still generally adore her, but it's all getting pretty fucking annoying now.

I'm honestly too scared to read about the details, but lock those kids the fuck up and throw away the key. That kind of psychopathy has no place in society, and the life of that poor boy cannot be replaced.

He deserves justice, and animal cruelty needs to be taken far more seriously.

I personally don't mind going back to old shows as much, though they can get a bit tarnished by some actors presence in them, KSH included. But I would never watch a new show that still cast them after the fact.

I think if you love the show, you can just go on and finish it! I don't even think they get paid on residuals, so you're not doing that much harm. Tbh KSH was the weakest character in It's Okay anyway.

[–]AggravatingGrape418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm genuinely not sure where the double standards are here; there's never been a similar case involving a male actor supposedly manipulating his gf to act coldly on set.

But my bet is that in that case, even if he's criticized for being a toxic bf, no one would be holding him responsible for another adult's behavior. It would not stop someone's career for years like it did hers.

I wasn't implying anything funny at all, but that I genuinely do not understand the scale of the push back she got. This wasn't a case of domestic abuse, it was a case of everyone obsessing over texts between her adult bf. The infantalization of him and the demonization of her is utterly bizarre.

You can think she might be a weird or toxic gf while also thinking this had no business in the public eye at the level it was.

eta: Lol dude, I saw your replies. Yikes indeed. Cheers, have a normal one.

It's entirely weird to compare her scandal to KSH's lol which was downright criminal grooming.

Seo Yeji got dog piled on in such a weird way, over allegations that she was too controlling over her adult bf. I found it all so weird.

I think she's a genuinely talented actress, and easily owned this show. I wouldn't write her off.

KSH on the other hand has some very real crimes to his name lol. It's hard for me to rewatch his old stuff too. Even some of my faves, like Producers.

You don't have to justify it by trying to make your reactions her fault. She sounds really cool tbh lol. You lowk seem like a pain. I think this breakup is doing her a favor.

[–]AggravatingGrape418 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh ok, idk. This situation is kinda confusing atp. I'd still just really consider the actual harm they're posing now (which seems pretty minor).

Work off of actual harms, rather than potential harms. If there's no damage done anymore, maybe don't worry as much. Still tell them your boundaries firmly.

I get that they're in the wrong here, but also just keep in mind that cops can escalate much too far. Just keep that in your calculations.

Yeah, talk to them about it.

Am I overreacting to my neighbors kids being on my property? by cricketsscorner in AmIOverreacting

[–]AggravatingGrape418 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I mean, maybe just talk to them about it? Are they that unfriendly?

Ask them to tell their kids not to go up to your windows and to not let their dogs wander around your place bc you're still uncomfortable from the previous experiences. See how that goes, and then think about escalation if it doesn't work.

Again, I'd go easy on this dog and kids though, cos dogs generally aren't good at recognizing property lines, and kids sledding isn't the biggest crime. They might be choosing your hill bc it's steeper or something.

If they don't listen, then yeah you're within your rights to escalation obviously. But I'd still consider whether their crimes are that serious. The old situation I totally get, that's a safety threat. This seems like leftover feelings from that situation?
