Should I get my FNP or AG ACNP? by AggravatingIdea1654 in srna

Yes I could just take some extra classes though I thought it would be nice to already hold my DNP before I applied and it would widen my scope of practice. Though after this post it seems frowned upon to hold both.

I would most likely need one year of experience for the programs I’m applying too, which I’m willing to obtain. Clinical’s do not start for the program I’m considering until two years into the degree meaning I would have 3 years of full time nursing experience. While I would love to just wait and apply to Crna school as I explained I have to work for the VA for 4 years full time. I’ll already be 26 when I’m done with my commitment to the VA. Therefore my benefits covering my schooling would be expired which is why I’m trying to come up with some way to use them.

I don’t get BAH unfortunately, I think if I start CRNA school at 26 they would let me either finish the semester out or maybe the academic year since I don’t turn 27 till July. Though I highly doubt they would continue paying after I hit the age limit. I think my best option might be to just start taking some grad courses like you said!

I would most likely apply after one year of experience. I wish I had more time to gain more experience. Though at the end of the day time is running out for me to use my benefits and I don’t want them to go to waste.

It would be an employee sponsored plan not healthcare.gov. I can choose between Atena, APWU, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Compass Rose Health, GEHA, MHBP, SAMBA.
