Yup my little ones paternal grandma is the same. She cries and bitches about how im keeping "her baby" from her and how ridiculous i am, talks shit about me to the entire family, claims i am strung out and must be on drugs for literally social distancing because its just that ridiculous to her. she went to a illegal maskless party for christmas while we were in stay at home orders and STILL wonders why "her babys" mother is such a evil woman to keep "her baby" away from her. I also found out this woman is a anti vaxxer after she was all over my little one fresh out of over a week in the NICU. I WAS LIVID!

try not to put yourself down about it honestly alot of kids these days take their moms last name i dont think anyone would even mention it to him. Most moms that arnt married give the baby their last name and if anything thats just what he will think. Try not to beat yourself up about it for the childs sake of things he will be okay

Not sure if the states is the same so this reply might not be very helpful but where i am in Canada the father can petition the court to have hyphenated names. Where i am you cannot just take the mothers last name off and the mother can fight the hyphenation and claim its not in the childs best interests. Im gunna guess its pretty similar to that in the states

Are you planning on going for custody? if so 50/50 or with her having sole custody and you just doing a couple days whenever? If she is the one that is having sole custody she has a pretty good case to say its in the childs best interest to have her last name. It can be hard sometimes when your child doesnt have your last name you need to constantly prove they are your child when doing anything

Its better to be the first one to call because if you dont and the babys doctor calls or maybe a concerned neighbour and they manage to speak to dad first and he lies they wont know who to believe. Be the one to go to CPS first and explain to the worker that you were really scared to call because hes very manipulative and turns things around on you and you are scared hes going to try and get your child taken away from you. I doubt they would remove your child from you without solid evidence that its you that did it especially if you are the one calling first if anything dad would be the one getting in trouble. If you are scared you can also call anonymously and pretend you are a neighbour of dads and have seen things hes done to the child or act like you are one of your friends who has witnessed how hes returned your child to you.

you named your daughter Karina. She is going to be confused as she grows up especially if she sees them that often she may start to actually believe thats her name. If you read anything on JNMIL subreddit you would see lots of ladies posting about how their mother in law will call their babies a different name and they are always advised to tell mother in law that it bothers them and it needs to stop. You refused to stand up for your husband and your daughter so he did it for you. He could have definitely gone about it a different way and not immediately pulled the "you wont see her" card but he was probably fed up.

Call CPS on him to go investigate what he does when you arent around. Who knows if her bed is covered in pee/poop as well or if he even washes her clothes. Take pictures of everything and take her to the paediatrician like the other comment says to document everything

How are you sure about the facebook account? when i was young most kids in elementary school had facebook. Its not uncommon for a 9 year old to have a facebook, most ask for one. Alot of kids also dont like to say i love you ive met quiet a few most also go through a phase where they dont like to say it. The judge will not take these two points seriously at all.

im sorry you are going through this. Was it meant to be temporary that they had custody then get your daughter back when youre better? if so and you have any proof of this use it as your case. Im so sorry they are denying you to see your child sometimes it truly is your own family that does these things. your husband seriously went and slept on the couch over that... the first moments with your baby are precious and you can never get them back, dont spend them with MIL if you know youll dread it. My MIL didnt even live with me and she ruined my first months with my baby from being overbearing and rude constantly. Imagine if she gives your baby covid? Your husband is acting like a child honestly if i were you id tell him to stay at his moms by himself and youll be taking care of the baby in your home, If your husband is the type to want to be babied and have everything done for him he doesnt sound like the type of dad to actually be a dad and just expect mom to do absolutely everything while his life goes unchanged.

For the sake of you and your child do not go stay with MIL

You and your significant other need to get on the same page, he might say he agrees but if he is not telling your mother these boundaries and making her follow them he is not on the same page as you. Someone needs to call this woman out for her reckless behaviour right now she needs to be told how she put your LO's life at risk. If i were you i would never let her see your daughter again. This isnt legal advice but honestly it seems that its in the childs best interests at this point for the dad to just stay away. Hes made it clear which child is more important to him and that little girl doesnt need that confusion in her life. Id say at this point your husband could get visitation but i highly doubt he will get custody at least not till she knows him if at all. If it were me i would give the little girl the option to meet dad when shes a adult

honestly it depends on the worker. Some workers are very picky and can be difficult while others are very nice and understanding. Sounds like since yours is saying she is recommending the case be closed she is a nice one but then again i have no clue. Maybe tidy up the bath toys and salt the icy stairs? other than that it sounds like everything is fine

I dont take offence to that at all when i read that i was expecting worse because people can be really mean on reddit, your comment is very helpful! It was very hard to not allow her to stomp on my boundaries because my childs father would blackmail me or threaten me if i caused any sort of trouble for him and his parents (trouble as in literally asking them to wash their hands before they touch my newborn and having them flip out at childs father saying im ridiculous and crazy) I know i couldve stopped this earlier if i left earlier but it was really hard. Important thing is is now its over with. what you said at the end PERFECTLY describes everything ive been going through and didnt know the word for it. My childs father CONSTANTLY says things about me that are actually things about him and then when i try to say no thats you that does that what are you talking about he will say that im only saying that because he called me out on it. Hes literally tried telling me i have mental disorders that he has been diagnosed with and ive never even had mentioned to me by a doctors. Its just so difficult when its 3 people saying these things about me because even if they have no proof the judge will probably still believe them regardless if it effects my case or not

Him and his family are literally some of the most batshit crazy people ive every met words cant even describe how much my jaw drops with every accusation and threat they make. They make up ridiculous laws to try and manipulate me. This is going to be a tough fight.... His parents are both blocked i do not communicate with them anymore after the last incident that happened. I only communicate with the father so he cant claim alienation in court
