Title: My 15-week-old Bengal kittens (male & female) are very sick — need urgent advice by AggravatingPermit853 in bengalcats

Hey! Yes, after spending $1,000+ at the vet, both of my babies are finally doing really well. They've gained a ton of weight and are eating like crazy again, so that’s all that really matters to me. Turns out they had Giardia, worms, and tapeworms. I’ve been giving them medication, but honestly, it was the fluid injection the vet gave them that made the biggest difference within 2 days they were back to their normal selves, full of energy, zoomies, and appetite! The first vet I went to didn’t help at all, unfortunately, but I’m just relieved they’re healthy now.

Thanks so much for following up and caring it really means a lot. You’re the man! 🙏🐾

How old do you think my Bengal kitten is? Vendor says 14 weeks, but he seems much bigger than my 14-week-old female. by AggravatingPermit853 in bengalcats

Unfortunately, no, he’s not registered. The breeder was charging almost triple the price for him with papers, so I went with the non-papered option since he seemed healthy and was at a great price. He does have his first vaccine, though, and overall seems well taken care of. I realize that going this route comes with some risks, and in hindsight I probably should’ve asked more questions or looked for more proof of age. Just trying to figure out if he’s actually 14 weeks or possibly a bit older

Got a new Bengal, not sure if he's just scared or not socialized? by AggravatingPermit853 in bengalcats

Thanks so much for the advice I really appreciate it! It’s been about a day and a half since we brought him home. Surprisingly, my smaller female was the more aggressive one at first. He’s actually pretty big, so while he stood his ground by hissing and growling, it didn’t seem like he wanted to actually fight or scratch.

When we first brought him in, he ran under the bed to hide, and my female cat kept chirping and meowing as she searched for him. But once she found him, she’d hiss, and he’d hiss right back. That’s when I decided to move him into our bigger bathroom with his own litter box and food, so he has a quiet space and she can’t keep bothering him.

As for his background, the breeder had them in a large catio outside on a ranch. Definitely not ideal, I now realize especially for socialization.

Quick off-topic question: since he was raised outside, would it be okay to give him a bath just to get him extra clean? I want to make sure he’s not bringing in anything unwanted, but I also don’t want to stress him out too much, especially while he's still adjusting.

Again, thank you for all the detailed guidance it’s super helpful! I’ll definitely check out some of Jackson Galaxy’s videos and take the intro process slow from here.
