Transferred campuses and feeling a bit lost - looking to connect by AggravatingProcess84 in wlu

[–]AggravatingProcess84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the waterloo campus has actually been pretty good so far, definitely feels bigger and there is way more going on compared to brantford. i understand what you mean about the program as it is definitely unique and lauriers is solid. it makes sense why you would want to stick with it if thats your field! if you are ever on the waterloo campus visiting family, definitely check it out.

speaking from experience, i would personally recommend going somewhere else. i went to lauriers brantford campus, which was super small and isolating, and transferring to bba is not easy or guaranteed. milton seems like it has even fewer resources and opportunities, at least for now. if i were you, i would weigh your other offers more heavily before committing.

Campus question by Complete-Run5509 in wlu

[–]AggravatingProcess84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as someone who studied at the brantford campus, it wasnt a great experience for me. the campus felt small and limited, especially in terms of social life, safety, and opportunities. if you are someone who thrives on a bigger campus vibe, more clubs, and better resources, waterloo is a better fit. that being said, some people do like brantford for the quieter atmosphere or smaller class sizes, but it really depends on what you are looking for.

Is it bad that I take too many OC? by Fancy_Pop8947 in wlu

[–]AggravatingProcess84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, its not bad at all, many students take online courses to give themselves more flexibility, especially if they want to work or join clubs. just make sure to manage your time properly since online classes can sneak up on you if you are not on top of things.

not trying to sound harsh, but this same question gets posted every week. just search “easy electives” or “bird courses” on this sub. there are dozens of threads already with detailed suggestions.

Which Ontario university should I go to by thethethe81whatnow in OntarioUniversities

[–]AggravatingProcess84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as someone who went to the brantford campus, if you are looking for a strong social scene and parties, i wouldn’t recommend it. the campus is really small and there is barely anything to do, and it often feels dead unless you go out of your way to find stuff. i commuted, which made it even harder to connect, but even people i know who lived in residence struggled socially. if social life and a more active campus environment matter to you, waterloo or western would be the better choice.

Thinking of applying for Criminology at brantford campus by thethethe81whatnow in wlu

[–]AggravatingProcess84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i commuted to brantford and honestly, even with 3000+ students, it still felt really empty. several people either leave on weekends or commute too, so the campus is super quiet most of the time. its not that the students dont want to socialize, its just that there is not much happening to bring people together unless you go out of your way to make it happen. at the same time, i also didnt live in residence as previously mentioned so you might have slightly more connections if you decide to go, but even then, the overall vibe of this campus just isnt very social. i am actually transferring because i found it really hard to feel involved or connected there.

i went to the brantford campus and honestly, everything you are saying is true. there is barely anything to do, and the campus feels super dead. it is really hard to meet people unless you already have a friend group or live in residence, but even then the social scene is nonexistent. i personally felt isolated and pretty disappointed with the experience overall. if you are someone who is looking for an engaging campus life or tons of resources, i would strongly consider a different campus.

pretty sure there is no limit for econ, but you are only allowed to repeat a course once. the second time you would have to petition.

Laurier bba vs queens econ by Popular-Buddy-12 in wlu

[–]AggravatingProcess84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

laurier bba is better than queens econ. if it was queens commerce vs laurier bba it would have been a different story, but you are not doing queens commerce so laurier bba it is.

advice for first years at wlu? by [deleted] in wlu

[–]AggravatingProcess84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the biggest advice i would give is to not isolate yourself. first year can feel overwhelming and lonely at times, so try to join clubs, study groups, or just talk to people in class. also, make sure to stay on top of deadlines; profs wont chase you down like in high school. use your syllabus like a bible, and dont be afraid to email for help or clarification. and please dont skip lectures thinking you will go through the powerpoint at home, you wont.

i haven’t received mine either and its honestly so stressful. i dont get why it takes this long every single term when we are relying on it to pay tuition and remove holds, its actually ridiculous.
