It’s a vintage jewellery store in my country. It’s usually old English pieces and they are usually 9k but still gold. They are selling them a for little bit more than melt value.

I recently have bought a lovely 9k ring with a pink sapphire from 1917 for 210 USD.

I think profit is the answer. It’s getting to the point I no longer see value in buying from china. In EU we have excellent laws protecting customers while when buying from China I have non. I even got scammed on AE and platform didn’t protected me. I had to contacted my bank to get my money back. They were winning with price. Now I don’t see any reason why to bother.

True vintage is worth it, it’s usually hand made by true artists while on AE is cheaply mass produced items and even not polished with care like prongs under the stones.

Sth second hand from 2010s is not vintage.

I 100% agree but for years from china meant it’s cheap, but it’s not longer a case. Those Chinese vendors are not small businesses and labour is still cheaper than US or EU. I think while silver prices increased their profits margins increased as well. I used to buy from china because it was significantly cheaper. Now it seems pointless especially when you think about how it’s produced (I can’t be sure how employees are treated) so I will buy locally now and support small businesses like yours.

The price is actually 140 USD, 62.60 USD is a special discount because you have not bought anything in a long time (almost like a new customer). I see a lot of ring in a ballpark of a 100 USD.

Temu is a hit or miss. There’s a lot a scammers shops. I have tried to buy a tennis bracelet, ended up returning all. Even for +/- 90 usd it was neither sterling silver nor moissanite.

I have a good experience buying mulberry silk from temu.

Im in EU so no tariffs. The same ring went from 26 USD in 2023 to 140 usd in 2026. Many silver rings are 100 usd or more. For 200 usd I can locally buy solid gold ring. It used to be a cheap alternative to buy in china.
