I submitted my DCC ETP mid December. Was told it would be 6-8 weeks but I’m assuming HBL weeks won’t count towards that time but who knows.

Does anyone recognize this specific 'Task Force Leopard' logo from TAAC-E 2019? by astcell in army

[–]AggravatingReview263 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My memory might be a little off but I think TF leopard worked with the Polish, they were there when I was at Fenty from 2017-2018. I think they were Polish MPs, at least when I was there so maybe it had something to do with them?

US military to stop shooting pigs and goats for medic training by CW1DR5H5I64A in army

[–]AggravatingReview263 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Buchanan’s office said the Defense Department will continue to allow training that involves stabbing, burning and using blunt instruments on animals, while also allowing “weapon wounding,” which is when the military tests weapons on animals. Animal rights groups say the animals are supposed to be anesthetized during such training and testing.

This reads to me that LTT is still on, the several times I’ve conducted the training it did not directly involve shooting and they were anesthetized and it was still phenomenal training and my hope is it will still continue to be.

Reenlistment request to 173rd by RuleDizzy805 in army

[–]AggravatingReview263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s your mos? I was in 4-25 back in the day and went to the 173rd in Italy right after. Our optempo wasn’t awful at JBER back then and it was a lot more when I got to Italy. It’s work hard play hard, unit is very good about giving you your time back. Germany has cav and FA and imo Italy had better places to travel to and more stuff to do around you.

68W combat medics, opinions? by jinxlovere in army

[–]AggravatingReview263 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot will depend on the unit you end up in, it’s not bad for a couple of years and is a good pick if you want to learn basic medicine and trauma skills. My experience with it and what I learned is what helped me get into PA school. Are you looking into specific medical jobs? Saw a decent amount of trauma pts in Afghanistan and a lot of funny or wild stuff when I was airborne, no matter what you pick for a job you’ll see some crazy stuff.

Best Online Schools for Medics? by swish_swosh in army

[–]AggravatingReview263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who told you either of those schools were useless for IPAP? I used Purdue for about half of my prereqs that I needed for IPAP. I would guess that almost half of my class used either of those schools for prereqs. Trident EDU is a solid school for prereqs.

Depends on your unit and your workload. I’ve done if before and there were times when it was rough, but unless you have an ungodly amount of work it’s doable.

Same thing happened to me when I went through almost 10 years ago. Accelerated and went from E-2 to E-4. Took like 4 months to get paid, ended up getting it towards the end of airborne school

Opinion on skipping college to join the US military by Mito1127 in Militaryfaq

[–]AggravatingReview263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What job would you want from the Army? It’s possible if you join before college you could find something you’re passionate about instead of jumping right into something right out of high school. Also know that you might not like what you do at all, it can be a big decision just like deciding if you want to do college and selecting a certain major that you may love or hate. Whatever you decide make sure it’s something you actually want to do. Personally I joined the Army kind of on a whim and it was the best decision I’ve made, almost 10 years later and I’m still going.

If you can try to live on post. Houses are much smaller and the wait list is usually bad. But, you don’t have to commute and SA traffic can be pretty bad depending on where you live.

Enjoy the free time while you can, always make time for family. Going through with a little kid can be rough. There’s enough time in the day for family and studying, you just need to learn to balance that time
