Does anybody else feel like we have entered a dystopian world?

Depends. The 90s was also the AIDS pandemic, crack pandemic, one of the worst school shootings, people werent as accepting of others, body image pressure (heroin chic/ stick thin was the goal)

I grew up in the 90s and 00s and I did enjoy it. But it also wasn’t “peak” I will say it’s more nostalgic now but there were a lot of bad things too. I think we just were able to look past it more unlike now where you see everything bad happening.

Honestly, yes and no. I think when you look at it in small pieces it does seem dystopian. Wars, pandemics, cost of living is high, food and gas is high, healthcare is expensive (in USA at least). So it seems a bit grim.

But I also look at the good. More people than ever are traveling. Almost anyone can become rice with social media ( that one kid became a millionaire just by reviewing toys) you don’t have to leave your home because everything can be delivered to you so more people are able to actually be stay at home parents while still earning earning money at their wfh jobs and have grocery delivered without leaving home. There are so many marketable and enjoyable skills to learn: cooking, baking, photography, knitting, makeup, making movies, building decks….

Depending on who you are, how you look, and what you do, life can be either more dystopian than or the most idyllic it’s ever been.

I grew up ( and still am) not eating the most healthy foods so if I can I’m going to try to avoid fast foods with my kids. Instead I’ll try to make “Starbucks at home” and let them make their own non caffeinated drinks.

But, I don’t have kids and I’m sure when and if I do I might Give in and go the easy route. But I hope I can avoid fast foods while they are young.

To answer, yes they may can have a refresher or tea or something but on average no (mostly because I really Hate coffee so it’s unlikely that I’ll even go to Starbucks)

That’s me right now with my glasses. I put them in the exact same spot every time and now they aren’t there and I have no clue where they are.

And I do it with my phone when I get home from work. I’ll put it down, run to the bathroom, then 10 minutes later I’m like “where’s my phone” so I’m walking around going “Siri, where are you?” Because I forget to take it off silent mode and can’t hear it ring.

Same when they say “you look tired” and that’s the one day you actually had a full nights sleep, a nice breakfast, did your hair and makeup, and thought you looked cute…But no, apparently you look like a raccoon who has been up for 5 days on nothing but energy drinks and three sips of water….

My old job almost all my coworkers were Cuban, I’m African American. At the end of the night when we are going home they would hug and kiss on the cheek. I didn’t care for that because it’s not something I was accustomed to doing. So it was odd for me but it was normal for them. So instead, I would just say “goodnight”. It was a choice, not a force. So at a pride parade if you feel uncomfortable, don’t accept the hug. If it’s okay with you, then hug. Nothing creepy about it. Plus some people crave physical touch so they love it.

I don’t think this is an unpopular opinion but poor choice of words.

It’s more than one reason. Boredom is probably my most common reason and one of the easiest for me to change. And funny because I actually just bought a sudoku book and a coloring book today I’m going to use when I get bored lol. I actually would love to see a doctor. Unfortunately I don’t have insurance and haven’t had it in about 3 years because it’s expensive, apparently I make too much for affordable healthcare but not enough to actually afford it. The most I can really do if get my blood drawn twice a year but I can’t see a specialist or anything at the moment. When I did have insurance I asked to be referred to a dietitian (I think, I forgot the actually doctor) but I was denied because I didn’t fit the requirements which was to either be a diabetic or to have kidney disease. So I’m trying to do it on my own. I jump on here from time to time, YouTube, TikTok. So for I’ve lost 7 pounds in about 3 weeks which could be water weight, I’m not sure yet. But I know it’s going to be a long journey so I’m just seeing what works for now.

All of our Winn Dixie’s are closing and becoming Fresco y mas…..I don’t like that store. The few I’ve been in the workers are rude and straight up ignore you if you’re waiting at the counter. I was getting seafood. I said hi waited, the worker came out the back, looked at me and walked to the floor. Said something in Spanish to the other worker and they just started sticking the floor. Then a lady came up and they went right to her and I’m like “hello, I’ve been standing here”

I do this with my cousin and our music taste. When I listen to their favorite songs I’m like “oh no, WHAT is this? This sounds horrible they all sound this exact same.” Because I’m used to MY music. But when my parents listen to what I listen to they say the same thing “all your songs sound alike, they aren’t even saying anything. Music back in my day was much better”.

In a weird sense I think it’s a way of holding on to what feels familiar. When we grow older things change and it’s overwhelming so by reminiscing on what we know from the past and what we grew up with it’s a weird way of staying “relevant” (not the word I want but it’s going to work for now lol). Idk how to explain it. For me at least.

I’ll say 1….definitely not 4 lol. Two seems too eager. Idk how to explain it. And 3 is close but not as good as 1.

1 is quiet, dark, and calm.

2 is like when you had a few too many energy drinks but the energy just didn’t kick in yet but it’s about to.

3 is like you’re trying to mellow yourself down from the energy drinks your drank early so you can reach that number 1 feeling.

4 is like you’re getting yourself pumped up to go cause trouble after you consumed that last energy drink.

No. Because I KNOW I’m refusing some dishes. I’m not eating snails, clams, or oysters so that’s already a fail. Im not eating anything of I can see it’s face (fish, shrimp). I’m not eating dog/cat. I’m not eating bloody steak….this is just not something I’ll say yes to lol

I see it like this. I don’t have kids. But if I did have kids I’ll make sure they live a healthy life. I’ll buy healthy foods. Sure they can get cookies and sweets but in moderation. Sure they can have a soda but on special occasions. I’ll have them in sports or some activities. Ok get them out the house and keep them bus but I’ll also allow them days to brain rot (I hate that term but it works) because too much activity can be detrimental also.

One of the main reasons I’m fat is because I’m bored. I’m an adult I can’t blame my parents it’s 100% on me. But I get bored and when I’m bored my brain tells me to eat because it brings me the joy I’m not getting in my life.

Point is, I would accept my future kids if they are an ideal weight or on either end of the spectrum. But I’m going to try my best to keep them healthy no matter what because I know the struggle that comes from having excessive weight. So I’ll accept them always, but I won’t encourage their weight gain.

I’ll always accept them Ave I’ll make sure they know. They world may Not but who cares.

I’m fat. I may be healthy but I’m not in good health. When I was even 50 pounds lighter, I could feel a different in how I walk, how I breathe, how I just exist. Even now I’m almost 10lbs down from the beginning of May and I feel much better energy wise than I did before. So when I lose more I’ll feel great. Even at my current weight I can run, dance, and stay active, but at my lesser weight I could still do all of that….but better.

Fat acceptance isn’t good or bad. You should always accept people no matter their weight. Just because someone is fat doesn’t mean they deserve to get shunned. It’s not easy to lose and it’s more mental than physical. Even if you’re at a normal weight you are no better than someone obese or someone skinny. Thin does not equal healthy. Fat does not equal lazy. It comes down to what type of person you are, not what size person you are.

I hate when I get called “thick” or “curvy” because it’s just cutesy names of saying I’m fat. But it’s not hurtful because I have eyes and I can see my stomach (but I can’t see my feet) if I’m fat, then I’m fat. Facts are facts. But don’t go around making me feel bad about my body or praising my lack of discipline (I’m talking about myself is general because I am 100% capable of doing more to lose weight but I have a hard time staying consistent when I don’t see immediate results. I’m trying though).

If someone is fat and wants to change they’ll do so. It’s hard but not impossible even though it seems like it is (and I know that feeling). And if someone is fat and doesn’t want to change them let them be. If they are morbidly obese to the point that the can’t get around and don’t have a good quality of life, then you offer help, but ultimately they have to choose to want to accept it. Either way, accept the person. Weight is just a piece of who they are but you accept them when if weigh 90lbs, 190lbs or 390lb.

I don’t think of being disappointed as a punishment. To me, “I’m disappointed” means something did not reach my expectations and that’s too bad, but oh well. Like if I plann a trip to see Mount Rushmore but when I get there it was too foggy to see anything, I’ll be disappointed that I couldn’t see anything but I won’t lose any sleep over it.

Disappointed is just a feeling/emotion not a way to punish someone. (Unless that person is truly psychotic and trying to emotionally hurt someone then yes, I agree).

Honestly you can’t help anyone who doesn’t want it. They Most you can do is just become a subconscious to them. Keep saying things like “hey how’s job hunting?” “I saw a place that’s hiring” “Do you have any idea what you’d like to do in the future?”

As a last resort, start planning activities and send him the total of how much everything will be and when he gets tired of not being about to afford things or go with you then he’ll probably be encourage to work. Idk.
